Shopping cart vs Login hijinx

RHatchRHatch Posts: 49

Please either actually keep me logged in or don't remove things from my cart when I do log in. This has been a longstanding issue, but has yet to be fixed with even the latest store update (which is otherwise quite nice).

* STOP logging me out after two or three sessions, when I have checked the "keep me logged in" box.

* IF you really MUST log me out, don't remove items from my cart if I happen to log back in AFTER adding them to the cart.

* Oh, fun, if I go to the item's page, it thinks it's in my cart, but if I go to the cart itself, it says "Shopping Cart is Empty".

You DO want us to BUY stuff in the STORE, right? These problems say otherwise.

Details of my current world-crisis-level issue: I am trying to buy Tongue Control for Genesis 2 Male(s) and Female(s), but the following happened:

(1) clicked bookmark for DAZ|3D store.
(2) Looked in upper right to make sure it was showing the BLUE (aka "you're logged in, go ahead and shop") avatar.
(3) Added Tongue Control for Genesis 2 Male(s) and Female(s) to cart.
(4) Went to check if I have any coupon codes, only to see I actually WASN'T logged in.
(5) Logged in.
(6) Went to shopping cart - "Shopping Cart is Empty".
(7) Went back to product page - add to cart button says "In Cart". Clicking anyway takes me to "Shopping Cart is Empty".

So I can't remove it and add it again, and can't checkout because the cart hasn't registered it.
I'm going to try the following workaround and will post back if it works or not:

(1) Log out of DAZ|3D.com
(2) Remove item from "anonymous" cart.
(3) Log back in and try adding it again.

Adding another item while logged in causes the previous item to show up.

This still needs to be fixed - there are may other websites that are able to retain logged-in status for more than a couple of days. Even a certain other site that seems to have someone's cousin Jethro as the webmaster is able to manage it :)

You may want to submit a ticket on this since the forums are peer-to-peer.

The solution is to always make sure that you are fully logged in before adding something to the cart. However when you do experience this problem the solution is to simply add another item to the cart, if you don't actually want to buy the 2nd item than just remove it again once you have the cart showing your original item.

The problem to that solution* is that the little blue guy is still not a reliable indicator for everyone of logged-in-ness. The OP isn't the only one having this kind of glitch, although I suppose I'm lucky in that it hasn't (yet) affected my moving stuff in and out of my cart. If we can't trust the logged-in indicator, what else is there?

    * Yes, I deliberately wrote it that way round.

That is why I said "Fully" logged in. I have got into the habit of checking if the little blue guy is really as blue as he is making out to be before I start shopping.

I think the only logical solution is for DAZ|3D to purchase the rights to "Blue" by Eiffel 65, and then have an embedded MP3 of that play only when one is truly logged in (just to be sure, it should play the entire time one is logged in). Perhaps also have the option for members' avatars to be either Jake or Elwood Blues would help make things even clearer :p
