So, been trying to save a Character and only ever been able to save the base figure. When I add hair, beard, clothing and body morphs, it does the save okay BUT, when I reopen the ACTOR it has reverted to no body morphs and no hair, beard or clothing.
I read some thread that talked about the Transfer Utility, which I tried... is that the issue? How do I save out a Genesis Character again?
Did I mess it up for ever?
I tried to redo what I did in reverse but DAZ Studio just crashes and closes every time I try? Please, somebody help!

If you want to save a character including clothing, hair, etc., save as a Scene Subset.
Thank you very much! I was really worried after spending so much time on one Character that I had lost the ability to save it. So, what's the problem with the Save As Character Preset? Why does it revert back to the original base morphs and such? Any ideas?
A character preset saves the textures and morph dials to apply to the base figure again. It only saves what goes with the figure, not any conformed or parented items.
Well, save as a character preset definitely works. Perhaps you are misunderstanding the process. When you use save as a character preset, it saves the morphs (shapes) and textures that are currently applied to the figure (but no clothing, hair, etc.). If you choose the default to save shapes and materials it saves as an Actor with a snapshot of you current viewport as an icon (so it's a good idea to frame it nicely before you save). After saving, search in Smart Content or Library for the name you chose and you will see your icon with the label "Actor". When you double-click this it will load the base figure with your shape and textures applied.
Note that in Smart Content it will appear in the "Unassigned" category as there is no category option in the preset save dialogue. You can add a category by searching for your preset in Content Library, right-clicking the icon and choosing "Categorize". A category tree will appear. In this, look for Figures/People... etc. which is the standard category used for Actor presets for G2 for DAZ store products. When you click accept your icon will "disappear" in the Library, but don't worry about that—it's still there. You will then find your preset in Smart Content in Figures along with all the other characters you have bought. You can choose another if you wish, or create category, but I won't go into that.
To save hair, clothing, etc. along with the figure save as a Scene Subset, as Mike says, or you can save the accessories as a Wearables preset which saves the items without the character, but does mean you can add them to any character. I would tend to save as a Character preset and Wearables Preset separately because it is more flexible, or you could save as all three.
Yes, understand. BUT... if I may add that when I save every other figure the morphs are saved along with the skins. As with Michael and Genesis 2. Body styling are saved in Character. Only one that does not save body morphs is Genesis. It is the only Character that reverts back to the original base character morphs. Height, weight, muscle mass and the lot.
I should say thanks for the additional information, that too is very helpful in regards to the beard and clothing.
But my Genesis Charter save is strange as it is the only base that does not save weight, height and any other body morph.
I should also point out that I SAVE AS CHARACTER and name it a new name.... All other base figures save body morphs this way but not the Genesis one. (Genesis 2 saves morphs)
That is strange. These are dialed morphs?
