Maya 2022 DaztoMaya 1.8 - "Nothing to import" error

Hi all,
Having an issue here where I run the DAZtoMaya Script in DAZ studio, get the confirmation that my character has exported to C:\Users\(user name)\Documents\DAZ 3D\Bridges\Daz To Maya - I check and its indeed there, but for whatever reason when doing the Auto-Import in Maya it just says "Nothing to import" error. Best I can do is use the accompanying auto rig and select the file manually which works. Any help on how to get this working though?
Thanks

Strange... You have anothers users in your computer??? Maybe, this the conflict.... (But strange...)
No I'm the only user on my computer
my daz import plugin aint showing and not appearing in maya 2022.... tried to load it but its not available under the maya plugin menu as .dll
happens since the update
If anyone could help and inform me where does the 1.8 plugin look to when it's importing to Maya?
For the newest version, you have to look in the shelf. You may have to add it to your shelf if it isn't already visible.
right on it is on the shelves now. i use to activate it via the plugin manager in the past. THank you!
you have to press daz to maya export button script in daz studio first. thyen press import in maya using the maya plugin. i think theres a folder called TEMP3D in there you see daztomaya etc..
Yup, and I do that, and it's worked before but now it's not. I manually created the TEMP3D folder at the root of my C drive and still no dice.
OK... according to an internet search I see it's here: C:\TEMP3D
HOWEVER... when I just exported one out and looked at the log file I got this:
2021-08-09 19:17:00.844 Exporting File...
2021-08-09 19:17:01.739 Saving Geometry...
2021-08-09 19:17:02.186 File exported in: 0.1 sec (1342.53 ms)

SOOO... maybe check both? It could be neither, honestly, I can't seem to get my bridge to work properly, either lol. I do think the export to Maya is working fine, however, it's just the rig stuff I'm struggling with.
i can still see my TEMP3D working...and the maps are all in there....hmm
Would you mind just posting the folder hierarchy to give me some reference within the TEMP3D folder? Also are you using the 1.8 plugin?
Yup, that C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\DAZ 3D\Bridges\Daz to Maya\ is also the directory mine goes to, and when I asked Maya to automatically import it can't find anything, so it seems its not looking there.
Hummmm. Have you in c/user/USERNAME/documents/maya/modules the daztomaya.mod and a folder same name?
I use the 1.8, and no problems... (Maybe! :D )
When you say "no problems", are you able to retarget the rig successfully, or do you only take it into Maya and then leave it there?
EDIT - Not trying to hijack the thread, I'll not take it any further, but since there are so few of us on these forums it's hard to even confirm if the issues we're seeing are normal.
As far as the OP goes, have you tried downloading the plugin straight from the GitHub page? You might also try the development branch, or something, and just dump those files on top of the old ones, and see if anything changes. This is a strange issue, because it seems that at the very least Maya should always see the files, even if it doesn't do the right thing with them.
duckbomb, Send to MotionBuilder. Better for retarget and animation.
Aw, I just updated the Daz to Maya Bridge to 1.8, and after finding the new Maya shelf location for the plug-in, I am now getting that "Nothing to Import" error...
This system worked up until I loaded the update.
One thing I see that doesn't seem right... In the folder tree Documents>DAZ 3D>Bridges>Daz to Maya>Exports there is an "ENV" folder but not a "FIG" folder. But from the Daz3D end, when I run the Daz to Maya script it appears to run the export.
Bummed I updated the plugin. Work deadlines don't care that I opted for technical difficulties. Any thoughts on what or how to troubleshoot?
EDIT:
Okay... in looking at thoughts in this thread, I've checked the log file and I see this when I use Daz to Maya from Daz3D:
2021-08-17 14:19:09.621 File exported in: 0.1 sec (1236.11 ms)
2021-08-17 14:19:09.621 Exported file: C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\DAZ 3D\Bridges\Daz To Maya\Exports\ENV\ENV0\B_ENV.fbx
I created a FIG folder to go in the Exports folder, copied the 2 files produced (fbx and dtu) from ENV to FIG. When I rename them (B_FIG.fbx and FIG.dtu) Maya is able to see them and does import them. However, I am now having extreme scaling issues that I did not have before updating. Daz's native size is much bigger than the scale I work with in Maya. Before updating I would scale in Daz3D (to .033) and it would come in to Maya at that size. Close enough for me to tweak the scale without breaking the figure. Now, it comes in at regular "too big" size at Daz scale (the hip and inner mouth don't scale with the rest, so scaling down isn't viable) or at an incredibly small size that is way too smale to scale up (and has the reverse problem with the hip not scaling togaether with the rest of the body). Tried importing with Daz to Maya import scale set to Automatic and at x1(Normal). Same either way.
Thoughts?
Hi there, I copied all the files from appdir_common into the scripts folder inside Daz installed folder properly but the icon on toolbar is not showing. I dropped the DazToMaya.dsa file into the Daz viewport and it seems works exporting the character but when I go to Maya, an error message appears telling me "Nothing to Import". Anyway, I can't set the MayaBridge icon into the Daz toolbar, just the older on "script" tab but doesn't work with the Daz importer on Maya. Any help please? Thanks!! Steph.
Same problem here, the update broke the tool. Daz exports to a new directory, C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\DAZ 3D\Bridges\Daz To Maya\Exports\ENV\ENV0\B_ENV.fbx. The Maya side can't find anything, it's still looking for the original C:\Temp3D folder.
When I manually copy the Daz created files into the old Temp3D folder it still doesnt work. If I manually import the FBX and OBJ files simultaneously created by Daz (yes, it now adds an OBJ file) I have major skinning and scaling issues, maybe this is because there is no accompanying .mel script like there used to be. I have yet to correct in Maya. I searched the Daz script and it still points the export to the original Temp3D folder. I can't find any commands pointing it to this new directory.
Same problem here. It worked once but now it don't work.
Well, I've got the same problem: "Oops! - Nothing to import". Please, let me know if anyone finds a solution.
got the same problem: "Oops! - Nothing to import".
then
open myDocuments\maya\modules\DazToMaya\scripts\d2m.py (open with notepad2)
then change the code in line 2380: change the path at your file location
daz_file_path = os.path.abspath(r"C:\Users\XXX\Documents\DAZ 3D\Bridges\Daz To Maya\Exports\FIG\FIG0\B_FIG.fbx")
save the file
problem solved
This issue tends to occur when the user has specified a non default location for their documents folder. If this matches your use-case you must copy the files generated from the plugin export from Daz located at
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\DAZ 3D\Bridges\Daz to Maya\
and move them to what Windows recognizes as your actual documents folder then DAZ 3D\Bridges\Daz to Maya\
There will be a link to your system recognized Documents folder on the left panel in file explorer under Quick Access then Documents
This will then allow the plugin in Maya to locate the files
damn why they removing custom location buton.....?
Fixed! This soved the problem. I set my documets folder on another drive, I changed the daz_file_path to the correct location and it imported.
