Auto-Fit changing fits for the worse
I looked around, but was having trouble finding anything relating to this specific issue. I have this problem where sometimes the auto-fit dialogue seems to make things worse. When I select a figure and do a default load of the clothing, it appears correct. The auto-fit dialogue then pops up, and no matter what figure, clothing type, etc I choose, even if I cancel the dialogue, it changes the fit of the clothing, and it is now no longer correct.
Is there some choice in this dialogue that prevents auto-fit from doing anything? Or is there a way to load clothes with the default fit, and prevent the dialogue from popping up? It's driving me crazy.
You can see in the attached images that the fit appears more or less correct with the default load, before the dialogue is applied. After, no matter what I seem to choose, its far worse. Anyone know how to handle this? I even tried loading the clothing without a fit, and then pasting the figure's pose to it, but that doesn't really seem much better. :\

In this case I'd say just load the item, parent it to the figure and adjust its pose to fit on the arms. Not very practical for animation, though.
Autofit seems to work great for standard, obvious items like shirts, pants, dresses (to some degree), but can fail horribly for accessories. I had all kinds of trouble auto-fitting a belt with a dagger for a genesis figure to a G2F figure. The belt fit somewhat OK, but the knife sheath would warp and twist like it was made of melting chocolate. I ended up doing what Richard H. suggested. I actually loaded the belt twice. I autofit one belt and put the sheath on 0% opacity, then loaded but did NOT fit another belt, and put the belt on 0% with only the sheath visible. Then I parented the sheath to the belt, and it (mostly) followed it.
The big problem with some of these props is that they don't seem to follow the normal X-Y-Z axis. Trying to rotate them into the proper place after the figure is moved can be a huge pain in the rear.
Honestly at this point, I try to use the right clothing with the right figure. It is frustrating as this cuts down the # of props and clothing items I can use by about 50%, but it also cuts the frustration by 99%.
I'm having a similar problem getting pants to auto fit. the pants are from Urban wear for Genesis fitted onto Genesis 2 Male.. The first shot is before I click Accept to Auto Fit.. and the second shot is after.. Why is the mesh tearing like that? I wish I could leave it unfitted, but I have to click Accept to load.
It looks like some of the mesh is so close to the middle, or even crosses over at the middle, that it gets assigned to the wrong leg. That should be fixable by editing the weight maps with the Node Weight Map Brush and Geometry Edit tools- you need to assign zero to the weight map for the wrong leg, then set the right leg's maps to a reasonable positive value (which you can get by selecting some adjacent and correct areas and looking at the Selection Analysis tab in Tool Settings).
Thanks for the help, RH. I just ended up using a different accessory for this one, but I will try that parenting approach with a similar problem I have elsewhere.
