Carrara loading very slowly, or crashing outright on bootup

Hi folks :)

When I first installed Carrara 8.5 Pro (64 bit) it booted up remarkably fast, in just a few seconds. Now it's taking at least 5 minutes to load, while sometimes crashing outright.

All other computer programs are working normally, so I'm thinking it must be a folder filling up with files? I removed a lot of my "user scenes" files and that does seem to prevent most of the crashes, but it has not sped up the boot.

Any ideas? Is Carrara like its cousin Bryce in not appreciating big content folders? What content is Carrara reading when it's struggling to boot up? Are there any particular folders I need to reduce/rearrange?

I have been working with Carrara almost 24/7 for weeks so I imagine a lot of flotsam has accumulated :)

Have you checked the temp folder usually in documents or my documemts DAZ 3D
that can clutter up and nothing in it need be kept, Carrara is particulary bad for cluttering it.

Hehe :) Good one, String Theory

Wendy, I bet that's part of it all right. I'll check into that. Thanks! :)
