Hi,
I've remade the DAZ animation "Awake to a nightmare" in DAZ again. Taking it from v3 to v4 and re-rendering via the OCTANE plugin.
It's about 90% Octane and 10% original footage. Those v3 files need .dso files in places which can't always be re-created successfully.
Anyway hope you enjoy it.

Nicely done, spooky stuff. I was trying to find a spot to compare the two renderers, I tried the face closeup at 3:14 in the new version, 3:26 in the old. The skin looks a little more realistic in the new, maybe. Is that particular shot the Octane renderer (you mentioned 10% of the new is not Octane). Or do you see a shot that shows the comparison better?
3:14 is original DAZ footage.
To be honest I've not dedicated time to skin. It's an art form in it's self. I've poured effort into lighting, set building and kit bashing, plus low poly modelling.
However the opening shot! Wow what a difference that made to the skin. Compare the opening of both.
Granted you lose a lot of definition on Youtube. On my HD I can tell you Octane shines above DAZ many times over.
The biggest gains are in the indirect lighting. Even though I'm only using the direct kernel (not GI), Octane's unbiased non-GI thrashes a biased renders non-GI - plus it renders how light scatters across objects much better than biased.
Overall it's a compromise forced by the lack of time I had to work with, but still a lot better overall imho.
Cheers
Really good stuff!
Thanks Fran. I've just completed Episode 11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0YRwIUF5tE
Currently working on 12. :)
I'm not sure I understand the gist of the story. Does it have anything to do with a futuristic organ transplant experiment gone awry?
You'll need to watch episode 1, that sets up the story line.

After that we are experiencing Steve Malore's journey from his point of view, but we are given extra bits of info with the cut scenes.
