Genesis 8 basic female missing

Hello. Just installed 4.15 after a long time away. I can create a Genesis 8.1 female no problem, but when I try to create a Genesis 8 female I get an error message "Could not open file: /People/Genesis 8 Femal/Genesis 8 Basic Female.duf. File does not exist".
However, I do find that very file in the same folder as Genesis 8.1 Basic Female.duf.
Can someone explain to me how to have both of them work?
Thanks.

Pretty much the same questions that I'm asking here https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/528886/could-not-open-file-file-does-not-exist
Logfile, paths to content directories, are you installing with DIM/DAZ Central/DAZ Connect, are you logging/signing in to DS?
I am connected/logged in. I can right click on both and choose "show in file location" and both take me to the same folder, which contains those files. But still the 8.1 female works and 8 says not found.
Smells like DAZ Connect has been doing it's 'thing'... You didn't say how are you installing the content.
I installed the new version of Daz, then I installed some things using Daz Central. Not everything showed up there so I installed Daz Install Manager and installed a few more. I'm pretty sure the Genesis 8 Starter Essentials was installed using Daz Central. Wouldn't that installed both versions of the figure? I don't understand how the two are behaving differently.
DAZ Central and DIM are not DAZ Connect.
You use DAZ Connect when installing/updating content inside DS, if you have logged in to DS - There is only one reason for logging into DS and that is installing content with DAZ Connect.
DAZ Connect installs content to yet another location and everything that's installed/updated with DAZ Connect gets priority over the files installed with DIM/DAZ Central/Manual installation, even when the Connect installed ones are not working and the other ones would work just fine.
Have you looked in DAZ Studio Formats, does G8F load from there?
Ps. Stop logging in to DS.
I see two places to load the figures from, DAZ Studio Formats and Products. I get the same results in both places, Genesis 8.1 loads but Genesis 8 does not.
What does your log say?, Help->Troubleshooting\View Log File
What do you have specified in Content Directory Manager as Content directories?
Basically you are not giving us the information I asked in my first post.
I have not specified anything in Content Directory Manager, just using defaults.
I attached the portion of the log file that records my attempt to create a Genesis 8 figure and then a Genesis 8.1 figure. I also include a screen shot of the file location that opens when I choose Browse to File Location for either of them.
We still need to see what is specified as Content Directories in Content Directory Manager.
Is this what you mean?
Find the Genesis 8 Starter Essentialsd in the products tab of the Smart Content pane/ Does it have a downward-pointing triangle in a broken circle at top-right of the product thumbnail? If not, right-click and select Uninstall as that would indicate a (possibly broken) Daz Connect install, which would be used in preference to the DIM install - uninstaling from within Daz Studio will remove only the former, not the DIM install.
Yes.
Now if you search your drive(s) for "Genesis8Female.dsf", how many do you find and where (whole path, starting from the drive letter)?
Do the search again with "Genesis8_1Female.dsf", how many do you find and where (whole path, starting from the drive letter)?
One of each, both in the same folder (see attachment).
If you navigate inside C:\Users\ms_sh\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library\Data\cloud\, is it empty or what does it have inside?
Empty except for a subfolder "meta".
That subfolder contains the metadata that DAZ Connect has retrieved while you have been logged/signed in to DS. That can play havoc with your DIM/DAZ Central/Manually installed content.
You could try setting that folder as "hidden" in Windows Explorer and then re-importing metadata, but stop logging in to DS first. Attached a pic of my startup settings for offline use.
Right click at the hamburger menu in the "Content Library" tab
Select "Content DB Maintenance"
Check "Re-import Metadata" and "Accept"
It will take a while for DS to populate the list (a few minutes on mine)
First uncheck all and then scroll down the list until you come to 'Genesis 8 Starter Essentials', SKU 42071 (the SKU number is easy to spot), as far as I remember there were three related ones, check them and Accept/Ok.
Did Genesis 8 Basic Female start working again?
Thanks for all this. I followed the steps, but I'm afraid it didn't make any difference.
The only idea I have left is for you to try this... Rename the path C:\Users\ms_sh\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\ to C:\Users\ms_sh\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My LibraryTst\
Does DS change the error in the log when you try loading Genesis 8 Basic Female?
The logic is; DS obviously reads the content directories in the order they have been specified in "Content Directory Manager", starting from the top.
The first DAZ Studio Formats folder you have is C:\Users\ms_sh\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library, and maybe that is where DS is actually looking for the file for some reason.
The log does not specify, in which content directory it is looking for the file it doesn't find.
If the test has no effect on anything, rename the folder back to what it was.
Checked again the "Content Directory Manager" and I had overlooked something... You can reorganize the order of folders under the headings.
If you move "C:\Users\ms_sh\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\" below "C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library\", maybe DS will find the files.
Sorry, no difference. I also noticed by accident that when I add a character without selecting a figure in the scene it automatically loads a Genesis 8 figure to apply it to, not Genesis 8.1. So I can get it, but it's pretty bizarre. And given that the files for 8 and 8.1 are in the same place, it doesn't make sense to me that it would load them differently.
