    Thank you everyone for your feedback on my scenes. I'm learning so much that I have to put it into a render before I forget how I did it! :) Even if it doesn't look the best, your comments help me get better, because, I'm NOT an artist. So thank you for your constructive comments. They are appreciated!

    @mermaid: I like your weird planet. Surprised it doesn't look more like planet Earth, because this one's definitely weird! :)

    @fishtales: The first one is my favorite. Definitely see the potential hidden in the shadows.

    @Horo: Those experiments are awesome! Can't wait for the product to hit the DAZ store.

    @CTippetts: Love the cross-eye stereocard! Awesome. Bet your mom loved it.

    @vivien: Another fine render. Looks like a nice, relaxing place to visit.

    @electro-elvis: Very realistic office entrance. Too bad you can't have it in real-life, but that's what dreams are made of!

    @David: Welcome back! Sorry to hear you're still digging and recovering. Are you at the age where recovery takes much longer than it used to? I know I am! :-D Try not to overdo it. Your experiment with Horo's filter is great, even if you can't remember how you got there. :)

    Dusted off an older Bryce scene and added some of Dan's fog material to it. Something to break the monotony of the day. Created my own little island. If you look closely in the background around the small lake, my hut is there. I'm probably napping at the moment, otherwise I would wave to y'all. LOL No experiments with sea foam this time. Experimented with overlaying terrains onto one another and slightly modifying them so they're not exactly alike. Used different materials on each terrain and changed up the colors to see how the effect looked.

    @David - cool landscape, thanks for testing.

    @Art - thank you. Should be out in a month or so. Two beautiful renders, the first is awesome.

    Here's a wip of a processd terrain I was disappointed with but instead of getting rid of it, I tried to do something with it. Material from our Vegetation set. The inset is the height map used. The terrain was copied to extend in the background. It's only a massive 1024 one. IBL and sun.

    @Horo - I sure hope your TE-Filter program, once released, generates a whole new interest in Bryce. The results are astounding.

    @David Brinnen - You got good results out of Herr Wernli's program as well.

    @Fencepost52 - You seem to be making some nice terrain and landscapes without the TE-Filter program. I'll bet you're anxious to try it.

    Myself, I'm still doing simple stuff. I spent way too much time on this one ... mostly building those "special", or "challenged" portable lounge chairs, and far too much of it failing to build a Bamboo material for the railing on the veranda this is viewed from.

    Thanks, here's another. It took a while, but not because of Horo's program, but partly because of Bryce being a bit tardy going in and out of the lab with such a huge terrain (a known issue) and also because it is very easy to get lost in this process.

    Art, good idea to revisit old scenes and reapply new knowledge and techniques, it is both fun and instructive.

    Horo - I was actually trying to build a brick wall using a terrain, but instead it turn out to look like huge stones, Glad you like the idea. As for your terrain, your TE filter program has me very intrigued. Looks great.

    Electro-elvis - Thank you for your comment and glad it inspired you to build this impressive entrance to the imaginary company.. Very nice indeed. Also the gold for the Buddha is from the Bryce material with a little bit of manipulation.

    David - Great result with your 2 renders. The first one is so calming and the second looks very much like Machu Pichu.

    Art- Thank you. Great renders. I really like the sun and shadows of the first one. And yes I can just make out a person napping inside the hut.

    CTippetts – very nice card, like the addition of the ivy to the Arbor. The beach scene is very nice too.

    Vivien – thanks, I like your render very nice composition.

    Horo – very nice renders

    Electro-Elvis – Thanks- the foreign thingy is a swarm infector which I got from Tf3dm. The entrance is very nicely done.

    David – very nice renders using Horo’s new program. I also had the pleasure of playing with it. :-)

    Art –I like the island scenes, the close up is awesome.

    Sandy - very nice render

    These renders were done using Horo’s TE-filter program

    The first two are Alpine valleys, with the lowlands clipped in the TE. In the 2nd render the terrain was rotated a bit.

    The 3rd render I used David’s cloudscape preset from the Cloudscape 5 pack and an Alpine terrain which was tilled in the TE Filter.
    It was the 4x2048 tile.

    Thanks Horo for the fun program it’s awesome, very addictive.

    @CTippetts - thank you. Nice beach and island.

    @David - as vivien1 said, it has a Machu Pichu look to it with the terraces.

    @Sandy - good idea with the volumetric clouds around the summit.

    It's amazimg how a landscape can change with the material applied. The first is the same as above with the fields. The HDRI was changed as well (Ernies Clouds, available free on my website) and the second has just the camera moved a bit to the right. As mentioned above, I can't remember how I made the terrain and was about to delete it - obviously, I had some fun with it.

    @Horo. Is your TE Filters program available somewhere? I cannot remember seeing any link. Or is it still in the testing phase?

    @Horo, mermaid, and David: All these terrain experiments are seriously inspirational! Can't wait for Horo's new filters to hit the shop. Coming soon to a store near you!!!

    @CTippetts: Very nice landscape. Good job on making the lounging areas!

    @Fishtales: Looking good. The grey, rocky texture looks a little consistent. I wonder if that can be broken up by adjusting the phase setting in the DTE. I'm a complete newb when it comes to the DTE, but I think I recall David mentioning adding phase to push things around a bit.

    @vivien1: Thanks for your comments. I got a pretty good nap! LOL

    A couple of abstracts and a close up of my island. My first successful render using Instancing and one things for sure: The Instancing Lab and I have a hate-hate relationship. It hates me and I hate it. I got so frustrated for this render with the palm trees that I didn't even fix any trees. What's there is the way the trees came out of the lab. Oh, well. Praying for a Bryce upgrade and improved instancing lab.

    OK, I'll have to be very patient! All experiments with the filters look great!

    I just hit the boundaries with too many instances, sending Bryce in a state of perpetuum mobile. Or, at least, not reacting for so long that I decided to cut it off and try again from an earlier point.
    So, I'll upload another one that I recently made. It started as an attempt to make a nice field with a volumetric slab. I ended up using two slabs for the field. I created the mill and the fences in Hexagon. I am not completely happy with it: there is too much torque in the wings (there should be some, but not as much as this). I might redo the wings later. The tree on the dyke to the right was made in NgPlant. All other trees were from Bryce. I also used the 'countryhouse' by Alphons Blom behind the dyke. The flock of birds is from Archive3D.net.
    The sky is one of the presets,

    @Hansmar - I'm not sure what you mean about too much torque on the wings. I think you just invented a more efficient windmill. The orange plants closest to the camera seem more uniform than you might have intended. Depth of Field would certainly help that. As for bird flocks, see my post here:

    @Fishtales - If you mean that was an accident, keep messing up. I was gazing at your terrain for a long time. Anything that makes someone look that long must be art.

    @Fencepost52 - Real nice island. Fishing there would be so much fun, um, unless it was the fish that did that to the boat. Nice abstracts. Colorful. At first I thought the first one was a stained glass window created by an obsessive/compulsive.


    We decided to splurge and have oriental food tonight. Since when did Fortune Cookies start coming with accurate fortunes?

    @Art - The island close-ip looks good. The IL can be a bit of a beast. Abstract look great but the light is a bit flat.

    @hansmar - the Dutch field came out very nice. A volumetric slab can be very effective for vegetation and in your case it looks excellent. Great modeling on the windmill, too. Lovely, peaceful scene.

    @CTippetts - hehe.

    @CTippetts: I guess if this type of windmill were more efficient, they would all look like this :) Maybe depth of field would have been a good idea. I actually never used it so far. I think it only works with premium render. I tried that, but it was too time consuming for me in this render. And regarding the flock: I had this one in the scene long before your link, so I just kept it.

    @Horo: thanks. I think the flowers could be more flower like, but otherwise the field looks nice indeed.

    I built a wall, or stone fence. I'm not sure why, other than my mother's hair dresser has the grate seen in the first image hung on the wall in the salon, and I felt compelled to do something with it in Bryce.

    In the meantime, I'm trying to figure out a movie to duplicate a scene from that doesn't have a lot of people, since Victoria with some basic clothes is about all I have in the way of posable people. Otherwise, the lack of clothes would only allow me to do a scene from a porno. No, thank you! I wonder if there's a movie called "Outside the Box"? Did Emotiguy ever star in anything?

    Sandy - The cloud effect in front of the mountain looks really nice.

    Horo - What a big difference a material choice does. The second set look so much nicer. Very nice indeed.

    Fencepost - I sympathise with you and the instancing. Nevertheless the close up looks really good. And I very much like your abstracts, so colourful

    Hansmar - I'm no windmill expert, So to me it looks perfect. Clever idea using volumetric for the field.

    CTippetts - Thanks for sharing the grate. I'm having a bit of trouble saving it, but hopefully I manage it. As to the movie , you have the stones, how about . The yellow brick road from the Wizard of Oz

    Regarding the movie, I have a similar feeling as you. I don't have a lot of clothes either and do not want to spend money to get it or time to make it. But there are many movies without a lot of people, I guess. I could do 'Planet of the apes', since I do have some apes.
    How about 'Madagaskar'? You need some animals, but nudity is no problem.

    Hi Everyone,

    I use Bryce all too rarely but consider it to be a brilliant program which can create stunning works.

    None of my works are stunning, I hasten to add, but I love seeing the amazing renders shown here in the Bryce forum.

    I recently tried using the software with a new computer and found it to work much more smoothly than before. Although Bryce was the first 3d software I ever bought, I'm still only a novice with it but here are some renders from my recent session. (I used the same terrain twice - foreground and island in the background).

    @Marcus Severus - Hey, I like the idea of using the same terrain twice and viewing one from the other. Of the three images you presented, I like the middle one the best. If the first one wasn't so dark, I might prefer it, as it shows off features of the far terrain better. Glad to see you enjoy Bryce, and happy you decided to share.

    I was just 'trying out' Bryce yet again and this time was looking at terrain painting. I was literally squiggling around with the tools and then added textures to the result. The different versions arose from rotating, re-sizing and so on.

    I keep promising myself to use Bryce more so that one day I will reach the stage where I can have an idea and will have enough knowledge of the tools to be able to realize it.

    I like the wall and scroll-work you posted above. For your situation of not having too many clothes items, perhaps you could consider DressShop?

    Hansmar – Beautiful Dutch field. I could never have thought of using a volumetric slab for a field, thanks for mentioning it. I have a wip with Alphons Blom country house, hopefully I will finish it soon.

    A few more renders with the Horo’s TE Filter Program

    1st- an Abstract I used the Lava terrain processed in the TE Filter Program and lit by the GasCloud_A2 Hdri

    2nd - I liked it and thought I’ll share it. This was rendered by mistakes using the Orthogonal Right View. I was trying to make a still using obscure lighting with the Alpine terrain which was tiled, sort of like a glass ornament. I did not get the effect I was after but liked this effect and saved the image.

    3rd – the Chaotic terrain lit by a preset sky

    @kevinodwyer - that came out lovely. I like the soft curves and the colours.

    @mermaid010 - thank you. Nice renders. The abstract looks a bit like ice, the second is very nice, looks like a sphere with an underwater scene, and the third one coulf be a desert scene.

    Marcus Severus - Nice renders, I prefer the first one, perhaps is the combination of dark and light terrains

    Kevinodwyer - Interesting abstract, reminds me of swirls of chocolate.

    Mermaid - You are certainly mastering the program, I agree with Horo, the first one looks like ice, the second, floating algae in a sphere, the third a desert sand storm. Very nice work.

    Here is my render for the day, I'm still having trouble making foam around terrains, I followed the tutorials but the result is far from believable, so for the time being I am using flatten spheres dotted around the terrain.

    @mermaid010: Some very nice works! Great desert, nice sphere and abstract.
    Re. slab for field: it is not an original idea of mine. I have seen it somewhere before. Never a bad idea to just try something!

    @vivien1: very good scene. I struggle with the foam too, so often just don't bother. I really like the reflections in your work.

    Here is my next WIP. Again a Dutch field. The 'tulips' are made in PlantStudio. I think they are too blocky, but smoothing in Bryce did not seem to do anything. I am considering making some in Hexagon (why not?). I also see that the terrains that hold the tulips are a bit too high. The trees could have a little more volume. They are made in NgPlant and are supposed to be something like a Poplar. Tractor and bike are from Archive3d.net. The bike is stolen by me from under a young man, because the texture of the young man did not work well (have to try again, I think). There are hundreds of instances of the tulips (from 24 originals (8 times three colours for the flower). And quite some instances of the three original poplars too.
    With so many instances, you have to show them as group by a box, because if you show them all as wireframe, the moving around in the scene is far too slow. Also saving takes lots of time and I had multiple crashes. That is one of the reasons why I did not want to try to improve things anymore. I was so happy that I did save a complete version! I also did not dare to use transparency in the tulips for fear of endless render times. For the same reason: no premium render with true ambience.
    I will consider redoing this with new, self made, tulips (the PlantStudio ones are also self made, by the way), but maybe less instances to leave some room for some more bushes on the dyke. I might also improve on the poplars.

    Anyway, I call this: field of tulips.

    @vivien1 - very nice render. I like the islands with the trees. You could improve water, sky and lighting if you can muster the courage. Water is transparent, it looks a bit solid here. You could try CalmGreyWater, which I use for 95% of my renders with water. For the sky you could try LazyAfternoon from the sky library (Installed > Daytime, the first) and set Shadows to 100, Sky Dome to black and Ambienrt to white. The foam around the coast is tricky to get right. Using a height sensitive material on the terrain is one method I use. You could also copy the terrain, crop it from the top and make it a tadd larger and move it just above the water line with another material.

    @hansmar - the fields with the tulips look really good. Bryce has very nice trees if you take the BTOs and not a modified ones from the tree lab, which has a bug. Unfortunately, the poplar doesn't exist as BTO. If you have not already done so, have a look at Bryce Tree Objects (BTO) document.

    @Vivien1 - Is the trouble in saving it, or opening it? I know, the first time I tried to download a file from DropBox, I didn't, because I was fooled by their attempt to get you to join. Then I found out that you don't need to join. In the dialog that opens when you click on a download link, (the one asking you to join), there is a link at the bottom of that dialog to continue without joining. If the problem is in opening the file in Bryce 7, you have to change the file type before you can even see it, as demonstrated in the image below. If it's any other problem, be more specific, (preferably a screen shot if you can do that), and I'll try to help.

    Also, thank you very much for your "Yellow Brick Road" suggestion. I took another route, but same movie. Thank you for helping me think.

    Things are moving fast on here.... More great renders and ideas form everyone.

    I've been struggling away designing and putting together a catalogue for one of my clients.
    It went to print today so now there's the marketing material to do for it.
    As a bit of "fun" I decided to model the catalogue and UV map it in Wings 3D...
    Then I finally got to play with Bryce again for the scene set up and render.
