What resources and workflows can you recommend, first based on experience and second on research, for using online render farms with Daz Studio and Daz Carrara animations?

I don't know. You can buy this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007KGXY0K/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2WCS13TJWZF93&coliid=I3VW74IRI6IC33
I have used Carrara's render node option with no problem.
I have 3 computers in the house, an i7, a AMD quad core and an AMD 2 core.
I started teh render node program on both AMD's then started the i7 in Carrara.
I make sure that the network connectivity is solid with now errors and all the computers are using the same Database and content location to ensure there are not errors.
I then do a small test render to ensure it is working fine before I do a longer one.
I ensure the bucket size is set small so that no one is waiting for others to finish in this way the full power of all can be put to use.
I have also done this with the lux render as well.
it does speed up the rendering.
My i7 is liquid cooled and built specifically to run 24/7 for rendering.
Most on-line render foarms like "The Ranch" http://www.ranchcomputing.com/en/ use a render task manager like ButterFly Net Render to coordinate and provide a common interface.
