Is it possible to make money with daz3D renders ? (selling on shutterstock, etc)

Hi all,

I was thinking of selling my renders to websites like shutterstock.
Is it legal for me to do so ? Do I need to buy the extra Interactive License for that matter ... even if I don't do video games ?

For NFTs, I saw a post from daz3D that you can't use renders from what you buy on the daz store to sell on opensea .... Okay
So that's why I'm a bit confused ...
I thought that you can do what you want with your picture/video renders but it seems that you are limited in some other situation (like NFTs !?)

Furthermore, if I "succeed" selling renders ... I guess I'm not really protected by the fact that the agreement policy of daz3D could change and I would be in big trouble :/ Am I right ?

Anyone has the right information about that ? Please

Thanks

Others have said they do so but I've never tried.

  • Moved to Art Studio as it is not a Daz Studio question.

Where was the post saying renders could not be used to create NFTs? That is not my understanding of the license.

@Richard Haseltine: The post is there : https://blog.daz3d.com/create-your-first-nft-with-daz-studio/

I can read this line : "IMPORTANT: Keep in mind that if you want to mint an NFT you created in Daz Studio, you cannot mint a 3D model made using Daz products unless you purchased an interactive license. To do so without the appropriate license is a breach of our EULA"

Maybe I interpreted it wrong ? Does it refer to the "3D mesh" (the object 3D thing that you buy; fbx or whatever) ? and not the image render ...  I need some clarification.

That language refers to minting the 3D model and giving it to the purchaser as, say, an .obj or .dae file. Not an image. Any images made by you with DAZ resources belong to you.

When you buy an item from the DAZ store, you and DAZ both agree to a contract for the use of that item. If DAZ's usage policies change, the new policy effects purchases you make AFTER the change, but does not retroactively effect ones from BEFORE. DAZ cannot change what rights you have to content you've already bought from them.
