Still lost. I buy stuff and never find it. Help please. :)

Ok, so I bounce around with various software but keep coming back to DAZ and quickly realize why I bounce back to different software. :) I bought a bunch of stuff during the recent sales and some of it seems to be easy to access and use but others I simply do not understand how to access and use. For instance, I buy an outfit for Victoria 4 named "sexystinger" because it was cheap and I have spent a few hours trying to figure out how to use it. I have Victoria 4.2 and thought maybe I need to buy Victoria 4? So I buy Stephanie 4 Elite base to see if that helps but it does not. I download the latest DAZ installer and reinstall the clothing packs and still am lost. I find the file folders under the runtime but don't know how to access them in DAZ. Anybody have this pack or can help me use it?
Thanks

Errr... first of all, does any content show at all?
And have you watched this:
http://www.daz3d.com/help/help-daz-3d-video-tutorials/
It is what I started out doing; I watched the final video of that set first, and it basically taught me all I needed to start a scene.
In addition, I recommend reading these:
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/start
I.e.:
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/finding_loading_and_organizing_content/tutorials/smart_content_vs_content_library/start
http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/finding_loading_and_organizing_content/tutorials/loading_content_into_your_scene/start
As a quick start, you can either use the content library; here you need the Poser library.
Or you use smart content. I don't own the Stinger outfit, but I have marked where you might find it based on a different wardrobe item in the two images. The first image shows where to find V4 (V4.2 and V4 are "the same", 4.2 is sold as 4 nowadays.). The second image shows you how to find the clothes.
For the rest, I strongly recommend the turorial and videos.
Assuming that you installed to a directory DS knows to use as a Poser content directory, such as the My DAZ 3D Library, they will be in Poser Formats>Folder installed to>Figure>Some folder.
Richard,
Thanks for the reply. If I set up the DAZ workspace as in the last video, and choose Victoria 4, I get a choice of Stephanie 4 although in Smart Content I show Victoria 4.2. Anyhow, watching that last video you mentioned above allowed me to change my workspace and actually find the content I was looking for. I did try in my old setup searching for the same content and could not locate it. I think I watched a different video earlier when I started learning and that maker of that particular video had me set up the workspace the way he liked it. I like this way better. :)
Thanks again,
ts
Not everything will have metadata for Smart Content. When troubleshooting content problems use the Content Library tab, if the content was packaged properly and installed to a library that is mapped properly in Studio's Content Directory Manager it will be available from here.
hi you can see a lot metadata is missing! I not sure why?
is there a why of downloading the metadata on it own may by?
you can go in and reset the db then re import the metadata but keep in mind not every product HAS metadata. Only the newer ones that are designed to work with the smart content tab will have it. i'd suggest making sure you really are missing things prior to ripping apart your files.
hello
i've just calculate the ratio of 1:4
1(with smart metadata) 4(without smart metadata)
please can anyone help me
Not all content has metadata for smart content.
Also, when you install new content, you have to read the metadata into the data base; it's not happening automatically for all content.
I've attached two images to show you how.
First, in Content Directory, click on the list icon in the top right corner (1). Then, select DB Maintenance (2). In the new window that opens, select "Process Metadata Queue".
It should give you some more content showing up in Smart Content, but it never will be all content, i.e. if you have a lot of older content for M4/V4, or older.
The image showed he was installing with DIM, so the metadata will be added automatically (DAZ Studio must be closed while installing content).
Mr 003d - what are you wanting help with? Some items not having metadata is not necessarily an issue with the content or installation, so there's nothing to help with there - are you having actual problems related to the CMS, Smart Content, and do you have reason to believe that it is attributable to metadata not having been installed with products that have it?
yes i think! (thing is a lot of things do not come with smart metadata)
are any plans to give older items smart metadata?
I'm not sure if metadata is still being added to older content, other than when the content itself is updated.
