Problems with autofit

HonzoHonzo Posts: 193

I've just been trying to dress Ysabeau 6, a G2F figure.  Dresses that appear in the smart content window for her won't fit properly automatically- they appear to be sized and shaped for generic G2F. Using the 'fit to' dialogue changes the way they don't fit, but they still don't fit.  One problem appears to be that the choices offered for what the dress was originally designed for don't include G2F.  Any ideas how to solve this?

  • Are you sure theya re dresses made for Genesis 2 Female? The AutoFit dialogue should appear only if the item being fitted is not made for the bsae figure (otherwise Autofollow on ther morphs should deal with shaping mismatches, with varying degrees of acceptability).

It seems I was too tired to see what was going on, must have been doing something wrong, because it kinda sorta works now. I got the dialogue from right clicking the dress and selecting 'fit to.'  It didn't pop up on its own. And the options, today also, are 'unsupported' and 'Genesis'.

When I tried to put the dress on her, it was too big and and moved back somewhat, exposing the breasts. When I called the dialogue, it asked what I wanted to fit the dress to, and I chose 'Genesis 2'. This corrected the fit fairly well, but with some pokethrough on the breasts.

I'm wondering now how the automatic fitting of garments works. I would have thought there would be some kind of collision mapping system, but apparently it's something else. Or else poor collision mapping.

How do you fix poke-through in DAZ?

  • Can you give a specific example? If this is genesis 2 female content on a name 6 character then you should not be getting the AutoFit dialogue at all

As I said, the autofit dialogue didn't pop up, I opened by clicking on the dress and choosing 'fit to' and 'Genesis 2.

That counts as poping up - it opens when the item is fitted to the figure.

Okay. I don't know why it popped up then, unless the meta data on the dress is wrong.

There seems to be a little confusion in this thread. Using the "fit to" dialogue is fine. The clothing is not fitting because the Ysabeau 6 shape is not supported. It requires a shape morph called a Full Body Morph [FBM] to be made. The morph is made the same as any other morph except when naming it the Name of the morph needs to be the same as the Name of the morph on the dial {not the label}. In order to make a morph while the generated one exists, that one {after copying the name to a text editor for use later} needs to be changed to something else {I use the word delete}. Before saving the morph, the character is set back to default and in the clothing make sure both the "delete" and "new" morph are also at 0. Then save the new morph into the clothing. Delete the clothing from the scene. Load in a fresh one, on the figure dial in Ysabeau 6 and now the clothing should fit fine.

But we still don't know, if the dresses are actually meant for DAZ Genesis 2 Female and not Generation 2 (Victoria 2) or whatever it was in Poser that was designated G2, or something completely different.

The Fit To dialogue dosn't have a section for which figure the item was made for; AutoFit does.

I see both dialogues, one after the other, when I use 'Fit to'.

It IS a G2F dress from the DAZ store. Unfortunately it's called "Dress". Maybe I can track it down in the store. It seems, though, that Catherine3678ab probably has the right answer. Thank you.

Could it be a product for Genesis and Genesis 2, or maybe Genesis 2 and Genesis 3? In which case you may have 2 versions of the dress included.

This site shows even the discontinued products https://posercontent.com/

Or you can search it in your product library, here: https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files

If it is a G2F dress, are you trying to load the DAZ (.duf) or Poser (.cr2) version of the dress?

It isn't one of the variants of https://www.daz3d.com/the-dress-for-victoria-3-0 ?

Found it!  It wasn't listed in my product library link, but I figured out it's actually a Genesis dress, probably came with one of 'essentials' packs. I'm not sure why it was showing up in my G2F smart content, but it works fine on Genesis... I don't know if the dress was supposed to fit G2F, but it doesn't, at least not very well.

    Thanks for your help, all.

  • That explains why you were getting the two pop-ups then. If wanting to use it on G2F, then on the auto-fit dialog select Genesis - it might fit better then. If it does, you can resave it with a new name to different folders {so as to not overwrite the original files}.

    Excellent idea, thanks.
