@perlk I think your struggle results from the fact that the original is not sitting up stright, she has the legs probably bent sideways and the pelvis tilted, as well there is a forward backward movement in her pelvis /spine, which is hard to see. When unshure how a pose works on the body I try to replicate it in front of a mirror and that way I can feel which movements are involved

Ohhhh!!!! Yes, I see this now! Thank you!!!

    Briar

Entry into Intermediate contest. Rendered in Daz Studio but I smoothed out the skirt in Photoshop. I created the skirt in Hexagon and will release as a freebie. Original pose at https://www.deviantart.com/faestock/art/Briar-sitting-pose-reference-1-502898468

Thank you for the suggestions - I reworked the entire pose and I think it really helped!

There was a plugin called EJ Artist Reference Studio whic should be able to help with figure placement. Not sure if its still available.

WIP for the intermediate contest... looking for feedback. I feel like I struggle with the body position. It looks like her body curves towards the right, but I have moved the torso this way and that and it still doesn't look that close.

(Also, I have struggled to find a dress or a skirt that looks like this, if anyone has any suggestions on where I can find one. This one was a Poser dress I had to remodel in Hexagon to fit G8F.)

I'm not sure about the top part of the dress, but for the bottom part of the dress, the Isolabella Dress on Daz (https://www.daz3d.com/isolabella-dress) works quite well especially since they have posing for it that includes kneeling and it draped over the floor - much like your reference image here. The top part is fancier and doesn't have the straps like this dress though. Not sure if that helps.

Ok, I cannot leave you without a second entry, can I now?

Rendered in DAZ Studio 4.20 with Iray. Entry for the Pose II Challenge.

Thanks! I am super cheap, too cheap to spend $18, so I just created my own skirt: https://www.deviantart.com/perlk/art/Free-dforce-big-circle-skirt-for-G8F-911124091 I ended up using a different top for the promo render which is closer to the original photo here, but it warped when I tried to use it for this particular render, so I kept the strapless. It's all about the pose, though, right? smiley

I spotted the skirt at Rendo and was about to post here, suggesting it might be just what you needed, then I realised you had made it yourself! :)

    Welldone, really nice work.

Yes that's true! The posing is the important part.

And kudos to you on that skirt you made - looks fabulous!

Congratulations to the Showcased artists, and all participants as well. I hope everyone learned more about posing and other features of Daz Studio.

I'd like to extend a special thank you to @DAZ_ann0314. She stepped in and helped me out when life demanded too much of my attention.
