Mud or Dirt Shells and Animation?

I purchased "A touch of Dirt" recently and was dissapointed to learn it's a shell system that can't be used with animation. If you move the figure, the shell will stay put. There's also SIckleyeild's "A dirty Mess" but the description also mentions a shell, so I assume it uses the same system. Is there any way to add mud and dirt to a figure that will stay with the figure as the figure is animated? (I recall having a similar problem with "Look at my Hair" in which the hair would not move with the figure.)

Not sure what the issue is. I just loaded GF8, then applied a geoshell and then hit one of the premade animations in animatelite and the shell moved with the figure.

Thanks. I'll give it a try again. The instructions for Touch of Dirt say it won't work with animation.

it must use some procedural global shader to act that way

its not the geoshell thats the issue (except when exporting FBX etc )

I guess it's this one and yes procedural

there are plenty of other products for characters you can use and Ron's brushes you can apply to copies of clothing textures in an image editor like Photoshop or Gimp

also decal and LIE products that overlay clothing and skins

Thanks. Is there a surefire way of knowing what products will work in animation and which won't?  The backup plan is to just address the actual image file in photoshop.

well anything that overlays the actual figure or clothing such as a LIE (layered image editor) product will work

it creates temporary files with the textures combined

iray decals should too and geoshell textures that are not procedural, look for maps mentioned

you can still use the touch of dirt product on static props in the scene so not a total waste

depends on UV so should stay put

now this one I am unsure of as it says UV doesn't matter

that is what I would look for, if it has to have a particular UV or not, if it says for example G8F it will work

Adding on to this my favorite products for this purpose: Skin Effects: Dirt and Skin Effects: Dirt elements. They're only for females, but if you have UV Swap, you should have no issue using them on males. A Touch of Dirt seems particularly unsuitable for animation because it uses procedural textures and decals, but virtually any other dirt product I've seen should work fine.

    Thanks. Really appreciate the help.

Threw this together using Dirt Effects to show that it works just fine with animation.

Okay, finally got around to picking up Skin Effects: Dirt. My attempts to make this work, however, result in the skin turning metallic silver. I can see the dirt, but what I assume is the geoshell has turned the skin silver...save for the lips. Any thoughts on what I"m doing wrong?
