questions about Blender materials to Daz
I am not exactly sure if this fits here or the Dazstudio specific thread so apologies in advance if it's the incorrect place.
My question(s) are more based on things going from Blender into Daz.
Q1: Do cycles node-based materials (such as those from Blenderkit) work if somehow packed with a model in obj/fbx format or do I have to somehow bake/convert the materials into image-based textures to then use in Daz?
• I have two swords that have alternate versions, namely on the blade which pose possible issues.
one version has a normal single metal material for the blade, the second version has two material slots one is the normal metal material used on the spine and the second material is an emission material meant to be energy, in the case of the second version both materials are vertex/face group assigned so that they share the object but not the same space.
• I can't figure out if materials based on vertex/face groups would work in Daz.
Q2. Do I have to join all pieces of an object(s) (which will be a prop in Daz) into one single object or do they work in pieces? the objects are a set of guns and swords and the materials are set to the pieces as individuals, but I can set them to the correct areas if they do need to be solid.
Comments
A1. No you don't necessarily need to bake to textures, unless you use procedural shaders. You will have to adjust the materials in daz studio anyway because it uses a different shader.
A2. A prop in daz studio can have multiple parts, same as blender.
Ok thanks for the information
