DAZ Central - setting the path location to My library

Hello from France DAZ people.

I have been using DAZ since many years, and my "historical" assets library is under this path G:/DAZ/Studio/My Library.

I recnetly had to change my hard drive and reinstall DAZ3D & DAZCentral.

As I understand, you are suppose to set the path under the DAZ central gear settings. DAZ Studio install location for the .exe file and Base path location for the library.

So I logically set my former path under the gear menu:  G:/DAZ/Studio/My Library

But instead of puting my assets under this path, DAZ central loads my new assets under a much more complicated path: G:\DAZ\Studio\My Library\Applications\Data\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library\ and I have 2 libraries. One under G:/DAZ/Studio/My Library and the other under G:\DAZ\Studio\My Library\Applications\Data\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library

Now what would be the cleanest way to merge those two libraries ? to force the path to my original library? Should I just rename my "My Library" directory to "My DAZ 3D Library" but leave it under DAZ/Studio or should I move my entire original library to a new directory called DAZ 3D/My DAZ 3D Library?

Thanks for the support.

The daz Central path should have been the root, not the content library - the installer takes care of the subfolders. If you want to keep using Daz Central it may be best to uninstall the new files, correct the path setings, and reinstall.

Thx for your answer. Here is what I did. I set the path under G/DAZ. DAZCentral created this path: G:\DAZ\Applications\Data\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library\.

Now I still have 2 libraries/. The old one G:/DAZ/Studio/My Library and the new one G:\DAZ\Applications\Data\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library.

So I guess DAZcentral will never understand that the assets shoul go under G:/DAZ/Studio/My Library. At this point, I will move the old library under the new one.

You could also use Instal Manager, which allows you to set each path separately.

That's why I hate DAZ central. It manages the paths weirdly, and we, who need to install our assets on another drive, can only guess the correct settings. Moving things around because the drive is full, is a nightmare. I wish we had specific Locate and Migrate buttons that would check the path is valid.

I recently moved my directories largely successfully, too.

The only problem I still occasionally have is that for each and any file type (scene subset, pose preset, lie preset ...) DAZ uses the last used path, which is the default path noted during installation.
So these open up on my old path whenever I first use them, and when I forgot about that the file get "lost". Once manually switched to the new path, it stays there.

Once you save the presets in the designated folders, the folder will be memorized. Or, you can open your Windows Registry (C:\Windows\regedit.exe), go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DAZ\Studio4\AssetFilters, directly modify the target folders there... once and for all.
