Yes, humans being humans, how long before one of the participants in these AI threads is a ChatBot?

It may have already happened. surprisesurprise

fair bit of post production in Audacity with these as only 20 secs long

used 30 of them singing and spoken

    and added lots more cowbell

I installed the WebUI on my computer

There is an article on AI in the recent edition of the scientific journal, Nature.  Make of it what you will.

with the fear of misinformation and fake news

just remember FlatEarthers and Moon landing Deniers exist and predate Ai

losing jobs to technology is very real and ongoing but AI isn't the only tech threat there

the issues there are more related to economics, politics and power and obviously cannot be discussed here

I am having a lot less issues with my AI software than my DAZ 3D software on my  Windows 10 Re-installation on my new C drive

    just saying

yes it stuffs up frequently but a reconfiguration of Python and a few other steps I am back diffusing questionable art devil

DAZ on the other hand, I want to strangle that Post Grey Squirrel that gives me errors no matter what hoops I jump through and my plugins Carrara as well as studio are giving me hell

I did this video today on my computer in Stable Diffusion Webui Automatic 1111 with Deforum

I used a website to add the lipsync

    it's all AI

making her move her arms etc would destroy the coherence of the clothing and features but it's getting to the point we can render 3D

Always enjoy your videos, Wendy.  yes

The hands with wrong number of fingers issue is still a big deal to me with Midjourney and similar, but I am sure that will get solved in the not too distant future.

I just watched a lecture "How AI Can Improve Creativity", part of the Great Courses Co. course "How Digital Technology Shapes Us".  The lecturer is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the Unif. of San Francisco.  She says "Perhaps the best use of AI, and the least scary, is as a partner."  She gives examples like a master player of "Go" who lost to an AI program, then kept playing agisnt it, resulting in a rise in his ranking.  The lecturer also gives exampals in music and art.  Just FYI, I'm still not using AI for animations or anything.  Yet.

Took a while to find this, from the days of my youth, a story about self replicating robots that are stopped by a.....

     :)  https://archive.org/details/OMNI197908

Been enjoying the way humans on social media are so happy to be duped by other humans posting ai images and pretending they are by real artists etc etc . The other day I saw a newly discovered Monet ha ha and a rare picture of van gogh in a bakers shop ... and an enormous perfectly round golden sphere buried underground 4000 years ago by cave men.... just makes you realise that nothing was ever real, even the real stuff. It was All in  our heads.  Believe something and that makes it true. ASelf fulfilling prophecy. At the moment ai needs works with non organic computational machines  and some kind of power source. What if you take both away.  I think the lesson is that humans, as a society,  have tied our umbilicals to both these things also. Obviously the endgame will be good for the planet, lousy for us.

Ai "@rt" leaves me cold, it's the worst kind of kitsch, ever. And kitsch,  by definition is crap, doesn't matter what kind of spin you put on it.

    Brief wiki excerpt:

    ______________

Kitsch in art theory and aesthetics

Modernist writer Hermann Broch argues that the essence of kitsch is imitation: kitsch mimics its immediate predecessor with no regard to ethics—it aims to copy the beautiful, not the good.[7] According to Walter Benjamin, kitsch, unlike art, is a utilitarian object lacking all critical distance between object and observer. According to critic Winfried Menninghaus, Benjamin's stance was that kitsch "offers instantaneous emotional gratification without intellectual effort, without the requirement of distance, without sublimation".[6] In a short essay from 1927, Benjamin observed that an artist who engages in kitschy reproductions of things and ideas from a bygone age deserved to be called a "furnished man"[8] (in the way that someone rents a "furnished apartment" where everything is already supplied).

Kitsch is less about the thing observed than about the observer.[9] According to Roger Scruton, "Kitsch is fake art, expressing fake emotions, whose purpose is to deceive the consumer into thinking he feels something deep and serious."[10]

The anti-AI people can add bogus books, with bogus covers, to the things to be criticized.  There is a B-Movie producer named Fred Olen Ray.  He made everything that is in the low-budget category from family Hallmark Channel Christmas Movies to late night sexploitation 'Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers,' and most things between.  He recently retired and wrote a book called 'Hell bent for Hollywood.'  Well, someone else saw that his book was doing well and wrote a copycat book.  They used AI to write the text, and of course AI 'dreams,' which is a code word for false interpolation and extrapolation.  The fake book is full of factual errors.  But wait, there is more!  The fake book had a cover, and it had a picture of what purported to be Fred Olen Ray, but being AI, was a picture of someone else.  --- Not making it up.

it's not the AI art that scares me... (though I fully sympathise with Headwax and other Artists losing work to it, in the present at least, I do think it will lose its shine eventually)

it's ChatGPT that terrifies me, especially in the hands of journalists etc

Yes, the text of the copycat unauthorized biography of Fred Olen Ray is ChatGPT or one of its competitors, and many facts are not correct.  The cover is one of the AI image generators (and also not the correct person).

Was thinking about becoming a Graphic Designer a while ago, looks like one of the professions that will be impacted in future.

Even "Prompt engineering" can be done by a Chat AI, so once the loop is fully automated that will mean even less jobs.

The only thing about Chatbot I am using they write me good Sci-Fi stories. So I never get bored

The other thing with Stable Diffusion is interesting.

I like the artworks of a REAL Artist called Paperblue (he does paint with real tools, not A.I.) and the like.

There is something I came up with for personal interest and to fill my junk with concept art (I'm a sucker for that)

This is done with Stable Diffusion.

Unfortunately AI image generators can output work much faster than a concept artist. A good concept artist has the advantage in being able to create original art.

    yeah, it's nuts smiley

it's not about faster, but it's about getting a reference, a starting point, getting an idea, a concept. that's what I use it for and look upon it. AI generative stuff is for me a Photoshop-Filter on Steroids, nothing more.

Look at Filter Forge (not the AI thing), it's bongers! You create ANY Texture you want without having to go out and make photos. It's no different to AI.

an AI video I made, no Carrara and 3D are not yet redundant but about 33% of this was done on my own computer

    (Foocus SDXL, Stable Video Diffusion)

the rest all free AI sites for images, animation and music

I still do 3D anination too but this was DAZ studio for no other reason than it was easier to do clone shape autofitting from all the other figures to Vyusur's Catoon there

I intend doing one in Carrara with the better fur but need to save every piece of clothing as a blended weight support asset and jump over to my Win7 to use VWD so rather a lot of work
