I can't install the Genesis Evolution: Morph bundles

edited December 1969 in New Users

Hey,

I've been tearing my hair out for nearly two weeks now trying to either install or find any morphs under 'pose controls' in the 'parameters' tab on Daz Studio 4.8 Pro for Windows 8 64 bit. I've purchased them from Daz3d and installed them with DIM installer and they installed fine from there, but aren't visible within the Daz interface. Is there a particular path I need to direct the morphs to?, is there something I have to do on Daz itself?
Can someone please guide me through this. I've wasted so much time, researched and tried so many things and I'm still lost.
Would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Erik

Are you talking about those morphs: http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-evolution-morph-bundle

Those morphs you will find in the Shaping tab. In Pose Controls you will only find diffrent sliders to pose the figure.

There isn't a pose control on the menu on the 'right hand side' once I open the shaping tab. I've tried every figure there and nothing

Those Morphs are made for the Genesis1 Figure. They will not work with Genesis2 Figures.

If you have loaded Genesis1 make sure the figure is selected and go to the shaping tab. It should look like the screenshot attached.

It depends on the body part you are looking for. The screenshot only shows the face morphs.

If you have the Genesis Starter Essentials from your product library installed. You will find the Genesis1 Figure in your Content Library Tab:

DAZ Studio Formats => My Library => People => Genesis

In your product library there should also be the Genesis 2 Starter Essentials.

Since you talked about DIM, I assumed those figures were allready installed? Aren´t they?

My computer won't let me do a screen shot, but my menu goes: Daz studio format - my library - content (with a list of other options below not including people)

You shouldn't have the Content folder in the My Library folder, and the Install manager will usually place content in the My DAZ 3D Library folder in the Public Documents folder unless you change it.

Well, I dont know what went wrong there. Maybe DIM is not configured correctly.

You can download the Genesis Figures via the manual download links in your product ibrary. See screenshots above.

But maybe you take a look at this first : Downloading and Installing DAZ Studio: a guide and FAQ

There should be some information how DIM should be installed an configured.

I have tried reinstalling the genesis str essntls on install manager and can't find a path in applications in settings or at least I can't find a path which starts 'my daz 3d library folder'. What is the correct path/way to install the genesis srtr essntls? When I installed the whole daz application from the srart, I didn't change where anything was installed to, it just opened as normal without me changing anything?

Here's a screen shot I managed to take of the problem I was having if it sheds any light on things from your side:

You set the path in the DIM Preferences in the Installation tab, not the Applications tab. The folder should be, by default, My DAZ 3D Library in your Public Documents folder. You also need that, or the folder you do use, selected under DAZ Studio Formats in the Content Library pane - right click on the DAZ Studio Formats header and select Add Base Content Directory.

It's possible that in Tool Settings you have Selection mode set to Root only.

Just tried root first node and node and still no pose controls

Can you select bones by expanding the model in the Scene pane and clicking on entries there? Does the little arrow icon next to each bone have a tick or a cross on it?

  • edited December 1969

There are ticks to all the body parts

Just thought I'd mention too that the 'my daz formats' has nothing to the right of it and 'my daz 3d library' is next to 'poser formats' below 'daz studio formats'?
I've tried so many installs on DIM, trying other paths and then just installing it without touching anything.. nothing is working. It's becoming a real red herring

OK, DIM installs by default to C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

That is the path that you need to enter in Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager. If you installed your content to a different path by adding a new one in DIM, then you MUST use that. If you didn't change anything in DIM, then all of your content will be in the path shown above.

In the Content Directory Manager, you MUST enter that path as BOTH DAZ Studio Formats AND Poser Formats.

Inside DIM, you can go to the 'Installed' tab, find Genesis Starter Essentials, right click on it, then select 'Show Installed Files'. That will tell you exactly where DIM has installed the file to, the library name appears at the top of the list, and all of the links are clickable.

This looks like a promising bit of advise, I will try this when I'm home, I'm not at the moment.
Btw, what are the genesis1 figures in Daz studio 4.8 pro?, just in case I'm mistaken, are they the genesis duf, the child figure, and the basic male and female?

    Thanks

There is Genesis and Genesis 2, there was never a Genesis 1, but some people refer to Genesis as Genesis 1 since there are now two of them. I usually call it Genesis (original), it is both Male and Female (via morphs), but Genesis 2 has both a Male and Female version.

Hey dude, think I've cracked it, I'm absolutely elated! Took me days to sort this out. Have to thank you a million for helping me solve this.

    Best,
    Erik

P.S I'll just make sure that there's nothing else that I've missed, but for now I think It's okay. Will let you know, but as far as I can see, pose controls are there and a list of morphs. Thanks again
