For morphing one cannot cut nor weld anything. One can only move around what is already there.

As the clothes tend to morph along with the figures these days, which figure are you using that requires the clothing to be morphed separately?

i'm using the gen 2 female model, and the morph I'd like to do is to open the shirt up around her middrift that and have her drop her pants for a clothes change in a sitting position or going into one

Okay ... for that you would need to have the shirt able to be morphed open in that it is not all welded together for that seam in the first place.
Have G2F in default "as it loads" position.
Now, if this is an already finished item [i.e. something you bought maybe] then yes there is a way to re-create some clothing so you can do that.
Send it over the bridge to Hexagon, and VERY carefully do nothing to change the uvmaps or shading domains. SOMETIMES one can extract another line over from the seam line that you want to have open. IF you can, do that. Then select that very narrow strip of faces and simply delete them. The uvmap needs to be intact as well as the shading domains unless one is truly wanted to redo ALL the work of remaking the while shirt.
Back in D/S, delete the shirt on G2F. Then send the shirt from Hexagon over the bridge back to D/S and it should be landing on G2F exactly as how it left in the first place. Using the Content Creation tools make the clothing piece and save it.
Then load a fresh shirt of the new shirt [to be sure all is well] ... if all is well then delete both shirts from the scene.

Then load that new shirt that can be morphed to open, make sure it is "fit to" and "parented on" G2F and pose G2F in the desired sitting position. Send G2F over the Bridge to Hexagon. In D/S select now the shirt.
In Hexagon "freeze" G2F and morph the shirt.
Then hide G2F and select the shirt, shoot it over the bridge to D/S.
D/S should then be offering the options to make the morph.
Make the morph reversing the pose morphs, etc. Test the new morph, if all is well, save it.

If all else fails, put her behind one of those folding change room dividers ;-)

Hmm sounds complicated but then what isn't, I'll give it a try and with luck the belly morph won't do strange stuff to it *crosses fingers* and thanks for the advice even if it doesn't work it's still a big help

Hongyu has a couple things in the store with morphs that allow you to undress your character. Read the descriptions. There's a cowgirl outfit for G2, a bikini, and a shirt for v5 that should work with G2. There are a least a couple more PAs with clothes like that, but I can't think of their names at the moment.
