At last I have found a great way to make 2D sprites from 3D renders.

ai?
Very nice results. Can we have some hints on the technique?
I'm making a lot of tests to improve all of this. Maybe I will make a tutorial in the future...

Outlines for learning sheets and colored sprites for games or others...
Man those are looking incredible 6r!
No ! Unfortunately DS isn't good with outlines.
I just use the 3D objects from Daz, Unity, Renderosity,...
Emotiguy still alive !!!
How ever you're creating this look - well done! You're getting a nice "digital drawing" look with these! Very nice!
Thanks ! Yes, you're right.
All isn't perfect. It's why I'm working a lot on it. But not bad, compared to all other ways I tried in the past.
Yesterday I could do very good .svg files too !!! (Not allowed to upload here !?!)
To forget the actual heat...
Funny : The creators of this 3D robot have built it from 2D sketches. And I have used the 3D one to redraw it in 2D.
I find it very interesting in 2D too.
Filter Forge anywhere in that equation?
No Filter Forge in that equation.
Yes, they are cute for such projects. It's why I try to reach that for years...
(From a 3D toony plunger I have made.)
To draw a plunger from above or from the side view is almost OK... but what with more complex angles !?!
With a 3D model I can have the outlines automatically... from any angle. Nothing to draw. Cool !
In any color... then I easily can deform it like the purple one !!!
Not bad too totally colored plungers on a target for my learning game !!!

There's a charm to these simple and clean renders. The simplicity of the flat colors and clean outlines is really neat. Any plans to let us know how you're making them?
Bad news...
I was making a tutorial with various tricks following all my attempts.
The owners of the software I use for this 2D work just have changed their policy and users are angry and disappointed now. It will be very very very expensive, especially for indies.
So, I don't want to make advertisement.
Here is what I think about all of this : (Picture ! The fly comes from 3DUniverse Chameleon ! Not easy to see... )
You could always just let us know and we can decide if it's something we want to pay for or not.

Wait and see if they come back... because a lot of users are frustrated.
Now I have found the way with or without light and shadow (totally flat or not !) :
I would like to see too. Your 2D pictures are always so good. I like the un-shadowed ones best.
