Carrara Challenge #18: Graphic Novel - WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Entries are now closed and THE WINNERS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED!
I don't see that anyone self-identified as a "new" Carrara user so I guess we will give the $10 prize for the usual "Honorable Mention" instead.
The WIP thread is here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/57301
Voting Rules:
- Anyone with a DAZ3D account can vote
- Please vote for three entries and an honorable mention.
- Order does not matter - so do not list a "1st," "2nd," etc. just give your three votes and your honorable mention vote
- In the event of a tie for the top three places the higher prize will go to the person with the most honorable mention votes; if ties persist after looking at that then I will reopen voting for a tie-breaker between just the tied entries
- Anonymous votes will be accepted with good reason (e.g. forum moderators who do not want to give an impression of bias) via private message
- Voting Ends: Saturday, 25 July 2015 23:59:59 CST (GMT-6)
Thank you to our generous sponsor DAZ 3D for offering the following awards to the winners:

Any items you made or modified yourself:
Shaders for Hulk, Book, V4 Customized shaders (not really obvious in cartoon format).
Pre-made Content Used:
Freak 4, Bookcases from Real University, V4, M4
So, I had this really strange dream the other day. I was trying to install something on my mother's computer. It would not load. When I got to look at what I was trying to install, it was Twilight - Hulk poetry. Now that's about the time I woke up, so I'm not really sure what Twilight - Hulk poetry is, but it did inspire the following. Used Photoshop / Filter Forge with a comic book filter.

I've been toying with the idea of doing a graphic novel for some time. This cover would be for a later part of a series...
I've been Enjoyed doing this which forced me to play around a lot with posing, and getting things right.

OK, I don't know anything in this kind of topic treated in this challenge, but I will vote all the same even to only recall that there is a challenge on this forum:
1-Entry #2

Entry #5

Title: Brash Lonergan: Interstellar Marshall
I liked the entry “Chickenman Jousts”, but the perspective isn't so good and the horse seems inserted in the wooden beam.
Good work everybody !
Hey, some wonderful work :) did I already say that ?
I had a great laugh at the humour of some of the work and some of them had me wanting to turn the page, to see what would happen next in the narrative

For my third vote it was a toss up between Bunyip Chicken man and Stezza, especially because in Stezza's work at the top of page two, the guy in the dark outfit seem to be doing something rude to the back of the man dressed in orange - who is either squealing in pain or joy.... and I thought that was a little off putting given the modern propensity of youth to go all out and out in the quest for violence . But in the end I quelled my emotions and went for

Voting is never easy in these. Aaargh. Excellent work, everyone. This time we have a mixture of panels and covers, making it especially hard for me to choose. I would buy them all. In the end, I chose Stezza's because of the staples. I chose Schlomi because it did really make me feel like one of the classic Heavy Metal issues. I chose Redhorse because it is such a clean sharp cover with the heroic character poses.

First off, pretty awesome efforts all round. I've never done anything like this myself, and feel almost unqualified to vote. Still, If I'm allowed to then... here we go.
I chose Stezza's entry for first place because it looked exactly like a comic book to me and the images themselves invited second and third looks on my part. The use of ComicLife really added a lot too I think, and was even a bit educational for me. All round amazing
Second place was a bit tougher... I went with Redhorse, again because of the overall look, and the artwork really blew me away.
Third to Diomede... this was tough because I actually liked Diomede's story the best.
HM: to Chickenman ... humor with concept, very clever.
Overall I'm amazed something like this can be done using Carrara. I'm not used to seeing 3D renders for Graphic Novels. Pretty educational. Thank you!

This one to me is so far out there and I have no idea what it's about but it's so good.. I couldn't even understand the writing which I studied for 20 minutes before realising it was up and down.. I love it
Entry #6
Title: Archangel Chronicles: The Amalgamation Wars

Awesome image... making me want to open the comic up just to see how that guy in the middle gets taken out.. drew me straight in

My favourite past time as a kid was collecting knights on horses.. You took me back to a time I enjoyed and watching Ivanhoe in black and white..
All entries were great and my twisted mind enjoyed everyone of them..
Great job everyone! Loved the graphic novel theme MDO2010! I couldn't get mine far enough along in time to enter, but I learned a lot reading thorugh the WIPs.
Here are my votes. Good luck!

great work everybody.
thankes stezza:
1. i knew it was hard to read, so the text is in one of the wip post.
2. the style an feel i wanted were of the heavy metal magazine,
google pictures of the mag, the inside not the covers to see what i strived for.
thankes diomede but the name is shlomi not "schlomi" i'm an israeli not from germany,
it's a nick name of shlomo, the name you know as solomon.
Congrats to the winners, but this new forum is ruining user experience, I can't see most of the entries because they are thumbnails and remain thumbnails even when I open them in new tabs. I'm sad.
Just clicking on the thumbs should open up a full size view. They all work for me
That works only if you sign in...
