General WelfareHello, everyone! My name is Chris and I’m a college professor. My interest in DAZ runs in two directions: (1) I want to create interesting materials for my classes, and (2) I am a gamer and I’m interested in using DAZ to create images of my RPG characters. Pretty typical desires … amateur skill level to be sure.

If I understand right, the Art Studio is for sharing your projects, so I’ll start with General Welfare, my primary character when I play the ICONS superhero role-playing game with my sons. For GW’s body, which is barely visible in the suit, I started with Michael 5, dial-spun some of the aging and face shape morphs, and applied Phoenix1966’s Thomas skin. The suit is the Genesis supersuit. The white leather shader came with the supersuit, or at least in the bundle I got; the red and blue shaders are from DG Shader Essentials 3. The eyes are from one of the YT5 base figures; I don’t know which one. The belt is from the Soldier 2025 outfit that just came out recently for Genesis 2 males; it doesn’t quite fit perfectly to Michael 5 but it’s acceptable for my needs. The pose is from Muscleman’s Heroes Defenders set for Genesis 2 males. The lighting here is just Uber Environment 2. Lighting and camera positioning are things I really want to work on soon.

I know he really needs a background and all that … this is the contextless portrait for my character sheet, though.

Originally I intended for the cowl to be all blue and the eye sockets to have a white film over them, like Spider-Man. But I could not figure out how to do that. I tried using Joe Quick’s superhero mask downloaded from ShareCG, but I did not have much luck using it on the Genesis figure. Any tips on how to get that Spidey/Daredevil type of eye lens would be appreciated. (I’m not averse to postwork and have Photoshop CC for reasons unrelated to DAZ, but I’d like to learn how to do this inside DAZ if possible.)
