Four Arms For Genesis

Hi,

I wanted to try this asset, but it's no longer in the DAZ store. Does anyone have it and is willing to share pls?

    Sharing the asset would not be allowed so I don't think you'd get any takers for that. Perhaps you can try one of these instead:

    yeah, sharing any DAZ asset is against the EULA (illegal basically).

    I don't understand why sharing a long abandoned asset would be a problem, I've saw shared assets from various sources on the forum a few times..

    Regarding your suggestions: I tried the Nike For Genesis 8 Female and it was absolutely horrible.. just a couple of arms that aren't even attached to the body and I guess Rihanna would be the same way.. I can get a similar result if I take another figure and hid everything except the arms..
    The dark lord looks cool, but it's not a human figure so unfortunately that's not really what I'm looking for, but thx for the suggestions anyway..

  • Copyright applies whether or not an asset is currently for sale. It's a matter of each country's legal system that you are wanting to ignore. Some lawyers love this sort of thing, and actively look for breaches, it makes them lots and lots of money. Really not wise. Getting the copyright holder's permission first is OK, though. Regards, Richard.

    Sorry, I didn't know the quality of those assets but there is slim-pickings in that area - presumably because human-like characters with multiple arms are the wrong side of the difficulty-to-create vs popularity ratio.

    And to echo what richardandtracy said, it is definitely a problem for anyone other than the creator (or licence holder) to distribute that asset, whether or not it's still actively for sale. Perhaps in those instances the shared assets you mentioned were given away by the original author (who no longer wished to sell it)? Either that or they were shared without permission and so shared illegally and you just saw them before they were taken down. It does suck in some ways, but that's just the way things are.

    Perhaps you can post a request on the Product Suggestions forum and any PA that is looking for a new project may take up the challenge? Bit of a long-shot and not helpful if you need the four-armed figure soon I suppose.

    The artist {if I recall correctly} is RawArt. You would have to ask him as he's the only one who could arrange this for you.

    No the artist was not me, it was a PA named Etujedi, who is no longer selling here. So the product is no longer available.

    Just to be clear why sharing is not allowed on older products is that what you are buying here in the store is a license to use a product, that license dictates how the item can be used and what distributions is or is not allowed. So unless you renegotiate the contract with daz and the pa, then the contract that you bought remains valid. It does NOT expire when the product is no longer in the store.

    That's just how it is with delisted assets. When they're gone, they're gone.

    Yeah, I was doing a render a while ago and really needed a Banana costume. Found the perfect one for it while googleing, got really excited when I saw it was a Daz product and then really dissapointed when the link 404'd. Turns out that it was a freebie gift from April 2021 and so was only available for a short time before disappearing forever. Oh well.

    Sorry, I can claim a "senior moment" now ;-)

    I thought that too, that the contract we purchased with remains valid even if the product leaves the store. However, there is or was at least one CS representative who thinks otherwise {discussion was over another product the usage of which was not made clear on the Product Page and after selling the item at a ridiculously low price it was pulled from the shelves. But maybe there's another story with that particular skin resource.}

    I did some research before I made this thread.. the Nike looked promising, but it was a big let down, you definitely couldn't even think about working with those arms.. I know it's hard to make a character with four arms that will work with clothes and all the possibilities that DAZ has to offer, that's probably also the reason why no one has tried to recreate it..

    thx for clarifing this.. I feel like that product was only for genesis 1, but I was really excited and hoping to get my hands on this product.. it's a real shame that it's no longer available and it's a real shame that sharing it's such a big problem, but I understand that it's not worth to risk problems with people with no soul (lawyers)..

    It is actually the artists (who very much have a soul) that you should be concerned about. If a product is stolen and freely traded, the artist gives up the right to perhaps return to it or update it among other concerns.  Or they  become disissioned by having their intellectual property taken so stop creating.

    You could do this yourself by stacking two figures, hiding the body of one, adding some smoothing and a little post work.

    I never said that artists don't have a soul and I wouldn't steal, it's just that the product is not available anywhere.. I tried it here, but I found that there is a catch, so I'm not going to deal with it anymore..

    that's exactly what I did, but I didn't liked the result, because I still have to find a special angle or some other nonsense to hide the fact that the arms are not part of the body..

    I am sorry that I implied that you might steal.  I did want to say that the intellectual property belongs to the estate of the the artist and Daz3d doesn't have the legal or moral power to manipulate the product out of contract and the product isn't "abandoned" so there are no salvage rights.  It was the lawyer remark that set me off; we have people in the legal profession so I remind pepole that lawyers are like garbage handlers.  They don't stink because they are bad people; they sink because they have to deal with garbage.  There isn't any "catch"; we don't know the details but Daz3d's hands may be tied.

  • It would be a bit of work to accomplish this, and the uvmap could be lost. For a still, pose and render [to get the skins for a layer in post work]. Then send both over to a modeller and delete the unrequired body parts of the 2nd set of arms, then weld the 2nd set to the main body. Delete any unseen mesh in the main figure [i.e. underneath where the 2nd set of arms attach]. Do what you can to put on and fix up a new uvset so it can at least hold texture.

    If you have 3DCoat or some other program that can paint on texture, you could try painting a skin to the new statue figure, esp over those new seams. Save out the new textures. {if using 3DCoat lower the buffer to about 4, 250 is way too much}

    Then load all the 'new' statue into D/S to the exact place required in the scene and render. Fix in post. {i.e. in Photoshop or PSP, etc.}

  • I have never tried making a geograft but you could do this yourself

    but nobody else can for you

    because they cannot redistribute the separated arms either as DAZ mesh

  • To make such a geograft work though, is a PITA rigging wise ;-)

    I would like to request a six-armed diety figure Ganesha/Ganesh, the Hindu god of wisdom and remover of obstacles, if a PA is interested in that figure. Examples are in the music video "One Night in Bangkok" by Murray Head, portrayed as a living woman and shown as a bronze in the background surrounded by a ring.

    Typically, Ganesha is portrayed as an athropomorphized elephant. That is the style I was given a spherical stone with carved reliefs on the sides, similar to RawArt's Elebeast for Genesis 9 | Daz 3D, but I'm more interested in the portrayal as in the video as a woman, either the live woman or the bronze woman statue, which I think, but am not certain, is a more modern and further east portrayal as the legend diffused into other cultures. Actually, I'd settle for a traditional style elephant style Ganesha as well. Both is even better, lol.
