I've been playing w/ DS for several years now, but never really got good enough to do any posts in these forums. However, my wife asked for a fanart for a game she likes, and I would really like some opinions on how to improve. I will admit my lighting is extremely basic, just a simple curved light plane for now, but then again it matches some scenes in the game.

I am a newbie, so I don't have any comment, but in my opinion, it look nice, and I like your poster around
Fallout3 is a great game, And I think you've nailed the grittiness of the game and the post apocalyptic feel. The posters on the wall could be hung tilted and maybe with a bit more dirt, grunge and grime on them. I think the image itself could use some starker, high contrast shadows to give a hint of foreboding. Candles might work, or just one or two light bulbs hung from the ceiling. You might also want to consider making your subject character more prominant in the shot by repositioning the camera.
FirstBastion, thanks for the ideas, I honestly was not thinking in those terms as of yet. I will admit, I liked the concepts of the lighting and positioning of camera, but I have very little experience w/ adjusting texturing due to not having any decent graphic programs, I only used MS Paint to "blot over" w/ solid blue & yellow to mimic the vault jumpsuit coloring. Any suggestions, preferrably free? I'm on extremely tight budget right now due to medical bills... (ugh)
There is a couple of really good...as in the same league as Photoshop...

mjc1016: Thank you for the links!! i will look into those when I can... was supposed to be my day off today, got called on duty due to co-worker being in hospital, not fun...
Latest version, wife at least liked the changes. Had trouble w/ Reality>LuxRender correctly aligning the spotlight I wanted to use, will have to revisit that issue later on.
