    Somebody asked on page 1 whether you could apply the gen 4 skins to genesis 1.  Answer is yes, as long as you have the generation 4 UV sets for Genesis.  Load the updated skins, change UV set to Michael4/Victoria 4, and you're all set...

    To expand the answer: V4 and M4 UVs are included with Genesis base, no need to purchase anything extra.

    Really great product.

    I especially like the 'bonus' anatomical element colourisaer - wish there was something like it for 3Delight materials - too often they come out looking like the figure has a nasty grayscale condition genital infection...

    Now I'll have to sort out Millenium-3 skins in Iray as I still use those older figures for background fillout in 3Delight renders...

  • Hey all, was there ever a pdf/documentation for this product? I have it, but I do so much better with some kind of documentation in writing-- references, specific steps, etc. This is just how my brain works. Does anyone know if this exists or where it is?

    There is a certain amount of information in the ReadMe (http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/22869/start) - have you read this?
    Some of the icons also have a "tip" pop-up which give some clue as to what they do and which sequence to do them - have you looked at these?

    If you go via Content Library rather than Smart Content the steps are numbered in sequence - apply the main script in the root folder, then go through sub-folders 1-5 to adjust - I find this much more helpful than trying to work through the mass of icons in Smart Content.

    I don't think any written "how to get started" documentation was ever produced, but the Genesis 2 version has a video which may help (via its product page in the store) - there are a few extra features in that version but the bones of it will be pretty similar.

    Hello. No I have not really made a documentation for this because it is supposed to be a very simple and intuitive product. As Melanie mentioned it, the tip files allow you to have more inputs. Yet, if you have questions about how to use it, just let me know.

    Not so sure I understand. If I remember well the way I scripted it (it's a long time ago now), it should be compatible with any figure of the Generation 4, not only M4 or V4.

    Hi, I'm getting this error when I try to run the script, seemingly out of nowhere. The only things I changed in my system is that I installed the RSSY Iray Material converter plugin, and changed my graphic card from a 1060 GTX to 1080 ti.

    Oh I think I figured it out. At some point the Iray Converter was already added to the character. It works.

    Hi Joel. Happy to see you solved your issue. I can'ot open my script right now, but in general the oObject error comes when it works on something that has no geometry such as a spot or a camera. So if the figure is for instance parented to a camera, since the script "rises to the top parent" it ends up with this message. The best thing is to unparent the figure in general before applying the scripts. But you solved your issue so this is jus additional information...

    I'm teaching myself how to convert V4 characters to Genesis 3/8 (currently 3) and this product seems like the perfect fit. I'm a new user, who wasn't around in the V4 era (if you can even say it ended), so I'm not exactly sure with what the properties of the different materials were back in the day.

    I have three characters I'm looking at converting, for the moment. I have either the morphs sorted or know where to look, but at least one of the characters has very unique materials I would definitely like to use.

    So I'll use Brijitte: https://www.daz3d.com/brijitte as a case study for my question: She has different types of materials: "regular" MATs, MATs SSS and a third set in .DUF files which doesn't specify anything further (apart from being for genesis 1).

    Now, I am assuming that for the purposes of this product (and perhaps even in general), I would get the best results from using the mats in the "MATs SSS" folder. Am I correct?

    Well I don't have the figure so I'm not able to try. The conversion is very rapid, so here is what I would say: load a figure, start with "regular" MATs, convert, then load a new figure, start with "Mats SSS", and convert this second figure. Then compare both figures to see which one you prefer.

    Well I don't have the figure so I'm not able to try.     I sort of assumed that there was an automatic "always best" option for the older material (one version having information the other lacked), but I now see this is not the case. Thank you!

    Well, I'm happy someone "necrotized" this thread, because I wouldn't otherwise have read through the whole thing... and discovered that this product has a make-genmats feature in the bundle, which is a "HOLY JUMPING CATFISH, YES!!!!" situation for me.  :)

    Funny thing is, I'd already placed the bundle onto my Wishlist months ago, and then forgot about it.  I've now pinned it in my browser in the get-this-soon section of my pinned tabs, waiting for the next time it goes on sale. :)

    And sorry to be a difficult (potential customer): My example above is using the apparently rare eyebrows material zone, which is probably the reason I had some chokes with simpler conversion tools (=washed out eyebrows). Would this tool be able to handle those correctly?

    And to answer myself and anyone who might be brought here by google 3 years from now (like I was), yes, it works beautifully on the brows.

    After a couple of tries the only thing that seems a bit iffy is the eye conversion, as described above, creating a thickish watery film that probably requires some tweaking or, if you're like me, and using these on G3 figures with the Cayman Studios uv compatibility additions, replacement with G3 eyes (which works fine).
