Problem with my Render (Dark Scene) Help!..

Hi everyone,

I tried endless solutions so far, as well as tutorials and nothing helps. Even with an infinite render, there's always missing pixels on my final render and the details are not high definition either. I know it's a dark scene but I saw people render even darker scenes than mine and they had all their pixels loading correctly. My render somehow always end up looking like this picture following my message. We can barely see the main girl's eyes because of bad definition and we can see lots of pixels are missing in her hair and clothes. I made sure her clothes are Iray already, everything should be fine, but it's not... 

I'm kinda new to Daz3D, I still have much to learn and I'm motivated to learn, yet this very first project is making me lose hope.... It's been months now i'm trying to learn how to fix that problem in vain... Is there anyone here who would know how to help me with this mayde? frown

    Those are areas which may have more complex, and so slower, material settings - as a result theya re likely to have the majority of unconverged pixels when the render is done (assuming the render is ending on convergence). One possible work-around is to render those areas with the Pot Render tool (sending it to a new window, via the Tool settings pane, and saving as PNG or Tiff so that you can just layer the small area over the main render). The idea is that the noisy area makes up a higher proportion of the render this way, and so it will influence the convergence. of course you will still need to give it enough time and samples.

    Thank you so much for your answer, it's very helpful after all the time I spent trying different things T.T .. I'm not completely sure how to find and use that Pot Render tool though, may I ask you were I can find it on DazStudio?

    Richard means "SPOT" Render - it's available from the Tools menu or the symbol that looks like the front of a camera in the task bar. Once you have selected that tool, don't forget to go to Tool Settings to set the render to go to a new window as Richard said,

    Can someone help me find the "Tool Settings"? I don't seems to have that option anywhere on my studio.. ^^'

    It's a tab that you need to enable from the Windows - Tabs  menu.

    I just tried doing the spot render trick on my scene today and unfortunately the pixels still don't load... I don't understand why.. I'm so desperate... crying 

    We can't even see her eyes through her glasses.. they look like sunglasses while they're not.. And there is definitely something wrong with her hair strand on the left of the picture..

    Use the "Glass Thin Clear" Shader on her glass lenses. The "dark" effect you are seeing is the refraction in the glass lenses. The Glass Thin Clear shader, will make this effect signifigantly less.

    There is not such a shader on my options, unfortunately.. I already choosed the first one of this list on the render I sent on my last message.. :

    Edited to add: the other reason you are having trouble with that particular shader, is because it's a 3DL shader not an Iray shader, since that Spex product came out before Iray became a thing.

    The Glass Thin Clear shader is part of the default Iray shader that come with DS. If you haven't already you need to make sure you have this installed: IM00013176-42_DefaultResourcesforDAZStudio420. They show up for me here:

    Looks like I don't have the default iray shader in my studio. Can't find it on DazShop either, how can I get it?

    Either in your Product Library here under My Account -- Product Library--then in the filter box search: "daz studio 4.x pro" and download IM00013176-42_DefaultResourcesforDAZStudio420.zip, then unzip it and install it to where ever your DS content library is on your computer. OR, if you use DIM to to install your content, search for it in there and install it, I don't use DIM so I cannot tell you exactly how to do that. I don't use Daz Central either, but I'm sure you can use that to search and install these default resources, but again I don't know how exactly since I don't use that.

    Found it! Bad news though, the glasses still render just as dark as before... :/

    How did you apply the shader? To correctly apply a shader you have to have the item selected in the scene tab, and then in the Surfaces tab select the specefic Surface that you want the shader to apply to then double click on the shader to apply it to that specefic Surface.

    Also, looking at your render you have a strong bright light shining straight into the characters face, likely causing strong reflections on the glass lenses. Shift your light slightly to one side or the other, that may help as well.

    I forgot to select "Lens_Back" along with "Lenses" on the surface tab. I just did it and it's working now, thank you so much!! laugh
