Creating a Female Dragonborn Character

Hello y'all!

I'm trying to create a female dragonborn character. I've already managed an equivlient male dragonborn character using G8 with soem morphs and the skin textures that come with Drago.

For the female dragonborn, I figure I have two options. Either I try to make my existing G8M dragonborn character more "femme", perhaps with some transgender shape morphs, OR I make a new character using G8F as a base. Feminizing my existing base character would probably be easiest, but I'm concerned about how the figure would interact with clothes designed for G8F.

For making a new G8F base, I've used morphs to get a shape that works okay. My problem is the skin texture. I don't have an equivilent "draconic" type texture for G8F. So if I want to go this route, I'd need to go into Photoshop and bash together a new texture for her. I could probably try adapating pieces of Drago's texture for her.

Anyway, a few questions...

- What would be the better course of action -- adapting my G8M base or making a new G8F base?

- I assume if I'm making a new texture for my dragonborn, I'd need a base map, a bump map, and a metallic map. Is there anything I'm missing?

- Is there a g8F draconic skin texture out there that I just haven't found?

Any help is appreciated!

would a female reptile have breasts?

most reptiles the female quite similar to the male except when gravid with eggs

According to the DnD resources, dragonborn are actually warmblooded and nurse their young. Also, the art does suggest that female dragonborn have breasts.

well then you could dial up the hidden G8F clone shape I guess

I never understand these things, there were the female frog and toad discussions last year surprise

  • I can try that. And honestly, I'm not planning on making my dragonborn character busty. I just want the dresses/skirts/etc for G8F to actually conform and not give me mesh explosions or crash DAZ when I try to apply them to a G8M based figure.

You could try one of our skins: https://www.daz3d.com/reptilian-skins-for-genesis-81-females and this is the male equivalent: https://www.daz3d.com/alternate-textures-for-oso-newt-and-genesis-81-males (< Oso Newt is not strictly necessary (as there's an alternate version of the skins for the human characters), but if you have him, you could always use his tail as well).

Oh, and as for morphs, there's also this super useful pack (which is my go-to): https://www.daz3d.com/hfs-ultimate-shapes-bundle

Yes, I tried them but they're not the sort of texture I'm looking for -- I want something rougher and less aquatic looking.

And yes, that's the morph pack I used!

  • Okay, so some of the G8F crashes DAZ. But I found at least one outfit that doesn't! So I might stick to the G8M base model with a bit of morph adjustment and a more limited wardrobe.

You could always tweak the settings for a rougher look:

Since I like a challenge, I experimented with one of the skins. Here's an example of how the skin changes by simply playing with the glossy channels (increasing the roughness and decreasing the reflectivity/gloss) and by adding a bit of overlay weight (using the spec map as a color) on the "Newt Human Aquatic Alt" Skin to give it a rougher (2nd image) look. You can also increase the Diffuse Roughness all the way to give it a more matte feel.

Another thing you can do is to take off the limits in the normal map and increase the intensity (I've increased it to 3 on the third image).

In case they are useful, I'm attaching this Particular Skin Preset, a Partial Material Presets that would apply this look for the Aquatic Human Skins (in case you prefer to use the green one, just make sure to apply the skin first and then apply this preset). I've also attached the preset to increase the normal map intensity.
