I Made a Trailer for my Fantasy Novel Todrol
Hi! I’m an indipendent writer from Italy. Being an indipendent author is not easy: you don’t have anyone to support you, such as publishers or agents. For this reason I work hard and have to promote my books by myself. Here’s a trailer I just made for my fantasy novel TODROL. The book is for readers of all ages and is only available on Amazon, in Kindle and paperback, ( English or Italian Edition).
From the back cover:
“”Licia fumbled with the box. With all the damp and having been left untouched for all those years, the lock was stuck. She heard a creak. The box opened and released a pungent smell, a mix of spices, incense and wet earth. The inside was lined with velvet and divided into compartments. There was a little jar sealed with wax, copper cups, an oil cloth notebook, a wand and a strange multi-sided object. On the front of the notebook was the word: “Ubiquamdum”.

Excellent work, Fabio. To me, your renders really show the power of DAZ as a tool to help tell a story - bravo! I also noticed that you have another book out, "Look inside Fantastic Realism". Checking out that video now, too . . .
Thanks for taking the time to share your work here in the forums. Hope you decide to stick around, as it looks like you have a lot to offer to the community.

Thank you very much, Greg. The other book "Fantastic Realism - Advanced Course in Fantasy Art" is a traditional painting manual.

Thanks you again for your kind words and encouragement.

That was real cool. Could use some more creative touches to reduce some of the graphic issues, but it looks great still. (One specific spot of mention was the fire-place tunnel where the bricks didn't match. You cold try to align them or just add a mortar-seam, as if there were a "joint" section there, to hide the mismatched alignment. Though, you can find "seamless patterns", and just set the TILE X and TILE Y, to make it all one solid chunk. You can also ALIGN the X and Y of the pattern to OFFSET the brick pattern, so it aligns at the two objects joints.)
Some other small things, but WOW, great use of your settings and lights.
I would love to see a scene comparison done with the new IRAY render-engine. (This didn't seem IRAY rendered... Has a strong "plastic" feel to it, as a whole.)
Personally, I think some of the expressions could be a little less dramatic in a few places. (Not a major concern, as the surrounding "context" is not there, and they may be completely justified, just not great "stills" captured. Story-wise, as it progresses in the demo, the "awe" should get progressively more intense, where these all seem the same intensity of "OMG WOW!"... Not "cool", "wow", "OMG", "OMG WOW", "OMG WTF WOW".)
Thank you very much for your hints, JD.
At the moment I'm very busy, I have to promote my book and other projects, so I have not tried the new IRAY render-engine yet. I made this project using the Reality Render 3 plugin for Daz Studio. Please consider that I'm not so good in technical aspects of 3D. I'm mainly a a writer and a traditional painter, but I hope to improve this trailer and my 3D skillls. Thanks again for your hints!
P.S: you have appreciated my use of settings and light. If you are interest in traditional painting and illustration, I have written a manual about it:
