How did One Drive get all of my Daz product thumbnails?

I am constantly trying to tell OneDrive not to back up my Documents, Desktop and Pictures folders and it seems to not care at all what I want. If I need something backed up I know how to click, "save as"...

When I shut off those folders in OneDrive now it sits there like a broken spybot spinning around and around saying it is "processing changes" but it won't tell me what those changes it is "failing to process" are.

And then somewhere along the line OneDrive over the history of my last ten computers grabbed about 10,000 asset preview images for Daz Studio and now I get emails from Microsoft reminding me of Daz product "memories".

When I go to the photo album, I can't find a delete button anywhere or any folder where these images seem to actually live.

What a mess!

I have ten thousand Daz thumbnails and personal photos from years back in some hidden folder that I can only view and not edit...

Like Microsoft has been scanning everything I do and holding it in an online dossier on me. I have nothing to hide but I feel violated. Just saying.

That is a feature of Daz Connect. If you allow Daz Studio to connect to your account then it will download those everytime you start it. By default Daz Connect has it's base folder under your Documents folder and so One Drive will include all that.

If you don't purposefully use Daz Connect as your preferred install method then you should logout of your account within Daz Studio and keep that as working offline. Technically you can then remove the thumbnails from Daz Connect's cloud folder - although I think that it does update the path in the database and so you might have to re-import the metadata to put them back to the DIM/Central locations.

Do you have the OneDrive app installed on your computer? If not download it from the Microsoft store and then you can go in and tell it what gets backed up

It isn't a feature of Connect, it's a "feature" of OneDrive that will affect anything placed in the Documents folder.
