First free kitbash kit that i've purchased, are almost simply to retexture, but this https://kitbash3d.com/products/mini-kit-neo-city?_pos=1&_psq=neo+city&_ss=e&_v=1.0 is impossible to add surface in DAZ, almost for me.

I don't know how come out this Minerva this time. I hope are comung back to old surfaces models.

well Neocity imports into Carrara just fine and that is how I broke it up and exported obj's for DAZ studio if I recall but I also could have used Blender

I imported the set Minerva (FBX) into Blender then the individual objs are exported again, now I can import them into Daz studio or into Carrara. It takes some work but it works. :)

DreamFusion, a text-to-3D ai based app from Google Research.

    https://dreamfusion3d.github.io/

It does not appear to be avialable yet, but we can hope.

The math behind it is way beyond me but I think the app basically does what other text-to-2D apps are doing but then uses photo data to further estimate depth data.

  • i'm sure it was already mentioned but if not, i'll do it again.
Blender! One of the best free 3D Softwares that makes life/modeling much easier.

Blender 2.9 also came with a Daz to Blender Option for morphs, rigging, posing and so.
I've got blender for a long time on my PC now with different versions but never really got time to take a deeper look at it but i have to say, modeling with Blender (character modeling for example) seems to be much easier here.
I didn't say that it's not possible within Carrara as i've also tested Character modeling here but with blender the tools seem to be better for this.
Here for example my first attempt in Blender to model a head (not finished yet) but this was very fast just with blenders Grab/move tool. (first it was just the cube, than added smoothing and than get it in shape which also can be done in Carrara).

    Yep. That's my workflow.

Where he's making footage with Particle IIlusion, I'm doing that plus with Iray and Carrara. The backplate footage that he uses when he goes into DaVinci Resolve for me would be an animation rendered in Carrara or Iray.

    Iray Passes

UVMapping came up in another thread, but this free add-on to Blender's UVMapping should go here as well.  The add-on is called text tools, and it is #5 in the linked video.

Thanks Wendy, that Womp 3D is a nice find!  I don't do much organic modeling but Womp sure looks like a fun and easy way to do it.

Yes. Not a nice alternative, IMHO, since there is plenty of free softwares that supports PS files formats. Some even uses same brushes.
