Green Screen is so 20th century

I use green screen for animations in my video editor Vegas, as have many movies in the past. But Netflix' "The Volume" technology is a huge step up, letting the actors see the background video in real time. Here is a short explanation of it for the series "1899" (some of the actors got seasick while watching the ocean):

Yup. And it looks very realistic. I did not think I would like the show because of what I thought were supernatural elements. But (possible spoiler here so stop if you need to) ...
There were no supernatural elements, just straight Scifi. When a second huge ship just disappears, it's not magic. It just gets turned off in the simulation by a knowledgeable rebel.
