Zombie appreciation render thread

Sfariah DSfariah D Posts: 26,292

I was thinking about zombies. I want a thread to show zombies.   The good, the bad, and the ugly.  Please remember to follow the tos.

What is your take on the zombie myth? What would a good zombie be like?

Zombie attacks would be a real pain, for all kinds of reasons.

Been working on a workflow to quickly tear up any set of clothing, as well as variations in their skin:

They make a cute couple, eh?

Hmm, cute in a grotesquely cute? kind of way, maybe.  :)  Nice image!  I kind of like the striations and textures you got on the male's skin which doesn't seem to show up as much on the female's skin.  Did you do them with different passes and then combine them later?  I think it's a cool effect and gives the image a little more depth than if both had the same textures.  Really nice.  Of course, you know I'm a fan so I don't think I've seen any images of yours that I haven't liked. They are all amazing.  Which is how I stumbled into Zombieland when I saw your name as the most recent poster even though I don't do zombies!

Thanks, Knittingmommy. I like how the striations came out, too! It can be a little hit/miss with the simplification that the algos do on fine detail before creating the lines, but in this case, I like the results. The two figures were in the same scene together and her skin was a normal character skin (can't remember exactly what it was, but it wasn't any kind of a zombie skin).

As far as zombies go, I think I have enough zombie content for both of us! You should give them a chance - they're really just misunderstood . . .

I did do a zombie render some time ago so I might as well contribute. As for how a zombie should be, I'm definitely a traditionalist, prefering the slow flesh eating kind. Still, I hold the Dawn of the Dead remake (featuring fast zombies) as one of the better zombie movies out there.
