Is there a script endpoint to manipulate a node in the same manner as possible with the gizmo in the viewport?

What do you mean? Are you wanting to be able to switch coordinate systems?
I want to manipulate a node along the axes available in the gizmo visible in the viewport, but via script. Seems like we can change the X/Y/Z translation parameters via script, but those are global coordinates.
