Assign geometry to bone

I cannot find any thread for my question; maybe because I am using the wrong search terms.

I have a simple geometry that is already rigged as a figure: a wall with various details on it, including a door. All as one object. All the other things can already be moved. Now I want to make the door movable as well.

I have already created a face group and also a selection group for the door. I also have added a new child bone for the door.

Now: how do I assign (connect? bind?) the geometry (faces? vertices?) of the door to that door-bone?

Select all the faces belonging to the door with the Geometry tool.

Then go to Weight editor tool. Select the door bone, and in Tool Settings select General Weights. THen right-click in viewport and 'Fill selected' and set it to 100%, i.e. full weight.
