Way to see if Item has been updated before downloading?

I understand many of the items may have been updated since last time I downloaded them.

Is there a way without performing a reset to find out if an item needs to be re-downloaded?

    No, sadly there isn't. You have to reset and check the version numbers to be able to tell if they have been updated.
