Voting Rules

1.Voting is open to anyone with a DAZ3D account.
2.Each person may vote for up to three entries. The order of your votes does not matter (i.e. do not vote for a 1st place, 2nd place, honorable mention etc. just list your three votes in any order).
3.Votes are per entry. If an artist has two images you wish to vote for, you may use a vote for each one, leaving you with one remaining vote to cast.

Anonymous Votes

1.Anonymous votes will be accepted with good cause, for example: if a forum moderator or admin wishes to vote without giving an appearance of favoritism.
2.Please PM Diomede if you think you need to vote anonymously.
3.Anonymous votes for the challenge host and host helper (5thElement and Diomede) will not be accepted.

Vote Counting

1.An artist may place in the top three or receive Honorable Mention only once per Challenge.
2.If an artist has enough votes to place more than once, the entry with the most votes will be the one that is placed, and the entry by another artist with the next highest vote total will be moved up.
3.In the event of a tie, there will either be a 2 day run-off period or a neutral third party will be asked to cast a tie-breaking vote.
4.The current Challenge host (me, 5thElement) is not eligible to win. Diomede is only helping me with vote count and pointing me in right direction regarding how it's all done.

    Credits and comments:  Used the Genesis 2 Female and the Genesis Male.  Skin shader for genesis male is Ringomontfort's David 5 for Carrara shader.  Male hair is Orion Hair by 3Dream and Mairy.  Male outfit is the Charming outfit (fairytale collection) for David 3 by Frances Coffil.  The G2F dress is a modified version of the Lady Scarlet Outfit by Bobbi25 and Shox-Design.  The furniture and the clutter are all objects from Carrara's native content.  Rapunzel's hair is a combination of a vertex hair cap that I made and a rope model that I rigged.  The final image is a mixture of two NPR renders.  One NPR render only rendered the diffuse and background layers using some of Ron's Brushes.  The other NPR render uses the denser brushes that come with Carrara, and renders all layers except outline.  The two renders were mixed as shaders on a plane with a bump setting.  Click below to see full size.

    Credits: I used the Country Chateau set from DAZ, V4 and Morphs++, a freebie kitchen appliances set from DAZ, and Flowers from DAZ's Garden Escape set. The clothing was a freebie from ShareCG by Rick Bridenbaker. Thank you!

    Comments: I made the knife and knife shaders, the cutting board and shaders, the counter top and shaders, I modified the figure's skin textures to fake SSS, and I used my own custom light rigs. I used Photoshop for postwork using render passes generated in Carrara. More details about what I built, modified and a more complete description of the render passes and postwork can be had by reading my WIP posts.

    Synopsis

    Man has ventured to Mars and started a small settlement.. It has been over twenty years since contact with the Curiosity Rover was lost. NASA hadn't received any signals from Curiosity since the year 2019.
    The small contingent of astronaut adventurers ( 2 women and 1 man ) had been settled for 8 months on the planet Mars and all was going well till one by one they started to disappear.. Segway hadn't been seen for a week and now Justine has vanished.. The last one left is Katalina and she is frantically trying to find her comrades to no avail..
    It was when she looked out the window from the control panel that she saw it..... after 23 years Curiosity was at the doorway... Has Curiosity come to kill the Kat?

    Credits: I used models, texture and character from DAZ (Victoria4 and Michael4, Domino V4, Magus V4, Lillith V4, M4 Major Cache).

    (Texture for the control panel founded free sometime ago on the web but I don't remembar were... I'm sorry)

    Comments: Spaceship, asteroids, explosion, etc, modelled and created in Wings3D and Carrara 8 Pro. Full scene rendered in Carrara 8Pro and postwork made it in Gimp to add more light, using “fake HDR image effect for Gimp” (http://registry.gimp.org/node/11776)

    Loved the clean look of some of the renders. Evil's in particular caught my eye because of the number of buns I saw.

    Not sure how or if this matters, but the tie was for 2nd between Pimpy and Philemo.  Here is rule #3 - "In the event of a tie, there will either be a 2 day run-off period or a neutral third party will be asked to cast a tie-breaking vote."  So I think we are in a two day run off for 2nd?  I believe FifthEement is breaking rocks, or otherwise earning a living, so interpret as you will until we get further clarification.

    I don't really want to put them in order of my favorites, because after carefully looking at each of them several times over, I really think that all of them are really nice images. So instead I'm just going to cast a single vote for the one that stood out the most as my favorite, considering all things related to the contest and its theme.

    Thanks to all of you for posting all of this excellent work, especially all of the WIP info of your behind-the-scenes work.

    Sorry I've been so absent from the forums lately. That will unfortunately be the case for a while longer but I hope to get back in full force in time. ;)

    Ouch, a tie for second between those two titles? I can see the dilema! That's a tough tie to figure out! 

    It's a tough call between them. But I choose Entry #5 Title: Space Impact    Artist: Pimpy 

    Here goes. I don't like picking between two images like that. That was a tough call and could have gone either way. I really like Philemo's entry as well. So in the end, it was the compositional flow of Space Impact that took it.
