hi, anyone here using intel 13500 cpu? how is it?

heys, i am working on my first pc build, and was thinking if the 13500 would be enough for daz and a little blender.
the cpu i see ppl recommending at minimum is usually the 13600k for new builds.
just want to see what daz specific requirements (and blender) when it comes to cpu are.
like is viewport speed connected to the cpu power at all? or is viewport speed based solely on gpu?
thanks (:

I have a i5 13600K system with a RTX3060 absolutely vast improvement of my previous I7 3rd gen I do use the viewpoert in iray mode but ony for simple scenes anything more complex and it still chugs a little as oppsed to my old setup that using the iray previews had to be handled with care.
I am not an expert just commenting I am pleased with it so far... LOL the grass is always greener somewhere
Viewport panning is dependent on GPU.
Changing the scene is still slow on 12700K, which is faster than the 13500. Unsure what exactly it needs,
hi Pitmatic! :P wow i see, glad to hear that its a vast improvement. i wanted to get a 13600k too, but i am building an sff itx build. so i have to use low profile fans. which won't work well with cpu with a K at the end cos those K cards are usually meant for overclocking and draw high power.
and it still chugs huh :( it seems like its no relief unless you shell out for a 4080 or 4090 methinks.
yeah i like working in iray, cos i can see things as it is as i work. but i guess you're right, daz or probably 3d rendering as a whole is still super intense on current hardware i guess, since only the top of the line stuff can handle things nice and fast.
thanks so much for sharing, let me see if i will sacrifice a sff (small form factor) build and just get a proper size fan and not care about aesthetic too much.
i started Awanting the build as a work station pc, ended up caring about sff and making it look cool, and i want to balance that with performance. the idea is to buy an itx board and start a small cheaper build. then maybe wait for the 5090 when i gain some experience. currently thinking 13500 paired with an 4060ti 16gb.
heys J, haha the whale shot is crazy nice, that water?? the blue, and the size of that whale? nice (ok sign)
ah...gpu after all. and what a co-inkidink, i actually saw your post that made me set my sights on the 4060ti 16gb.
i want to pair the 13500 with the 4060ti 16gb.
i wanted to ask you, hows the viewport speed like on the 4060ti 16gb? i saw that you said its OK. but what kind of ok is it?
does it move fast enough where it doesn't feel slow? and you won't get bugged by it.
or does it feel slow but its acceptable. hows the experience in iray and moving things, and just working on daz?
just dying to hear it. i just don't want to end up buying something i'll regret, when its slow af.
i come from an acer nitro laptop with a cut down 3060 with 6gb ram cos its a laptop gpu version.
and my viewport is slow like 25 sec-30sec stalls and i can't even load 2 chars most of the time!
thats why i am thinking i want the 4060ti 16gb over the 4070 even though by all accounts ppl say its a huge leap in speed, but i don't want no 12gb anymore after what i experienced with 6gb vram.
I am not really sure what you consider an acceptable speed for the viewport.
30 second viewport update is slow but not unheard of; I turn off things like hair or clothing when I get that, and it speeds up again.
For any non-trivial scene, Daz iRay preview is never going to let you spin the camera around like a video game or pose characters in real time like they were dancing. Daz has the Filament renderer for that.
The 4060 TI passed through my hands on its way to someone else so I'm not used to it; I did the benchmark while I had it (7.23 iterations/sec). As I said in the other thread, I normally use a 4080. (This reminds me, that I run the Daz benchmark for the 4080 sometime).
Iray viewport will never be as fast and responsive as the texture shaded is, but when one has a fast enough GPU, it doesn't take but a minute (or less) to get the real Iray render showing everything one needs to see.
ah i see, thank you. yeah thanks so much for the benchmark, for my first build i don't mind slower render times, as long as the viewport speed is ok. haha yeah i guess i have to start moderating my expectations for render speed. hey if ppl got by 3060, i am sure i will be ok with 4060.
thanks so much J.
heys perttia, yeah you're right. i just like moving things in iray so i can see if things are clipping and stuff. cos there were times when i pose in texture shaded, then turn on iray, then see that some things are off. i would have caught it earlier and fixed it if i view in iray. but i guess smooth and fast iray viewport isn't here yet, unless most prob if you got the 3090/4090.
seriously tempted to go for the 4090, but being my first build, and cable issues with the 4090, and a 4090 build being expensive af. 4060ti is the more cheap and cheerful way to ease in. then maybe see how the 5090 fares in 2 years time.
thanks for sharing perttia
