Custom models

It would be nice to have a section that the buyers can request for special 3d models for their projects by version of Genesis. The buyer can pay extra for this service and get the job done. Buyers post the job requirement and the artist bid and get the job. The artist can come up with 2 price options during the bid for; Royalty free and Exclusive rights. The RF orders could be sold at Daz 3d Store and Exclusive orders exclusively sold to the buyer only at a higher price.

I had a commercial job that I needed an athlete running shoes and a starting block. I couldn't find a proper one from the Daz store. Also I'm still looking for to buy a ladies wrist watch. No luck. Also I need modern clothing for many of my projects.

    Check PoserWorld, they offer such a service with their "dream model".

    The reason there isn't is that most customers would then want quality results, exclusivity, and to pay a store-like price.  If I had to charge for my time (as I would, if not selling in the store), I would be asking $60 an hour, because that's my normal hourly earnings.  A comparatively simple outfit can take 20 hours to finish.  No customer's going to pay $1200 for one project, but the outfit has to sell 120 copies at $10 each in the DAZ store to make that, which can easily happen if it's a marketable item (and DAZ likes it enough to take it).  And a store item can then pay more over time as a catalog item every time a sale comes up.

    You can find artists who will work for less.  Their work will not be as good.  Someone who is better at texturing than I am (most PAs are) could reasonably ask more.

    I'm a little surprised those items are hard to find, I'm pretty sure I've seen (& purchased) a number of examples of each.  (Except for the starting block, which I think might be fairly done with primitives.)  I realize you might need a very unique design.  I agree with SickleYield that *quality* custom modelling is going to be prohibitively expensive.  In some cases, I have taken a purchased model, close to what I need, into the modelling room of Carrara (I am not a modeller) and "beat to fit, painted to match", as they say.  A lot faster than me modelling from scratch, which would take ... forever.

    a  quick search, at turbo squid has starting blocks.  they range from $10 -$50 dollars    http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Index.cfm?keyword=starting+block  ;

    There wouldn't be a high demand for something niche like that at the store here.
