pose preset not working

completely new, no idea what im doing, last night i made a pose, did file>save as> pose preset and then moved the figure to a different pose. this morning i went to load the pose i saved as a pose preset (by first loading the saved figure, then doing 'merge an existing file' and double clicking on the pose preset file) but it keeps giving me the error opening/ reading the file and that i need to go to the log file for more details. any advice?

Is the figure (or a bone) selected in the scene? Presets generally require a target item to eb selected.
