Is Pixie Hair the only G9 one that comes with Daz?

Trying out Daz after a while and only see Pixie Hair included in the base installation.

Can't seem to find any others, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

thanks

As far as I can see, yes.

Here you can read the content https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-9-starter-essentials

But right now you can get Kin hair for free https://www.daz3d.com/kin-hair-for-genesis-9

  • A lot of hair is fairly easy to adapt - just use the transform tools to move it to line up with the Genesis 9 head, then parent it to that bone. Minor poke-through on the calp can be fixed with a Smoothing Modifier (Edit>Figure>Geometry) setting the colision target to Genesis 9.

  • Yuuuuuuppppppppppp.  But there are older ones that you can adapt to Genesis 9, like Richard said.  There are tutorials all over that show you where to look and what to expect, fortunately.  Actually, DAZ has a channel that's rich with information.  And felis is right on the money with Kin.  There's also a big sale on some hair items that just started, so it's worth doing some digging when you get a chance.

    Thanks all

  • Just getting started with G9, and when trying to load Pixie Hair only the hair cap is visable. Any suggestions? Not getting any missing files warning. It's d-force hair not strand based, correct? Is it useable in Filament? / Thanks / peace

That happens to me in the standard viewport.  I can see the hair in the AUX viewport though.  I haven't figured out what setting to change so that I can see the hair in the standard viewport, but you can switch to the AUX viewport to see it.  However, you preview changes in the render window that opens if you it turned on in the Render Settings tab for a stil image.  It's a slower method, but you can get a REALLY good look at it while it's rendering, and you can cancel it or back out of the save if you want to make changes.

This is what it looks like for me default in viewport in 'texture shaded'.

But check in Parameters >  Display that both the hair and the hair cap is set to 'On' in 'Visible in Viewport'.

enable PBR preview and line tesselation 2 or 3 to see it in Filament

  • Also check you don't have a setup or geoemtry editing tool active.

  • Thanks for all the responses! I'll check this out today. I only use PBR and I remember seeing line tesselation settings somewhere and not knowing what they were for, I may have turned them off(?) Forgot to check the other draw styles, thanks for the aux view info and posting the tex shaded view - glad to see images can be succesfully uploaded! As I recall, only the cap was in the list of loaded items. Anyway, heading over to DS now - thanks again / peace

That was the missing link for me.  Thank you!

  • Thanks from me too! And noting that when trying different things I kept forgetting where tesselation settings were (In this case you'd click on pixie cut hair (not pixie hair cap) and within it's parameters they're under general settings.) However, I can't see a use for it at this point when using the current PBR state to make finished images. And I'm still unclear what pixie hair is. Is pixie hair referred to as strand based? There is no reference to that, only stating that it is dForce. Personally, I would hope to avoid buying hair like this. I bought the Shadow Cat bundle when it was 6$ thinking I was buying a normal dForce hair but that hair is even more confusing to me, it's not visable even in iray preview, previewed only when using the spot render tool. I've downloaded some free strand based hair and those seem quite different from Pixie and Shadow Cat hair. Clarification would be much appreciated. Anyway, thanks everyone! / peace
