G8.1 Clothing morphs autofitted [or not] to G8F

I bought a garment which is made for G8.1 but I allow it to autofit to G8F - which it does quite nicely. However, there were areas of poke-through so I fixed them in Blender by creating morphs. But then when I reload the garment and it runs the autofit, my morphs are not listed. I can see them in the ~/data folder but no sign of them in the parameters. Is it not possible to create mophs that autofit from G8.1 to G8?

As I see it morphs should be visible.

But why are you autofitting. Just change scene identification to G8F.

If PAs just made it for G8 they could be used by both G8 and G8.1.

Don't use autofit, use the Scene ID trick instead.

Edit->Figure->Scene ID, and change the Preferred Base to Genesis 8 Female (use the three dots, not the dropdown)

Ok - so I thought that too but I must have missed a step somehow because the new morphs are still not showing. I reloaded the garment and, this time, instead of autofit (accept) I cancelled. The clothing looked fine on G8F and then I changed the Scene ID preference to G8F. No joy though - the morphs still not appearing.

I suspect that I might need to recreate the morphs with the scene ID set to G8F which is a huge PITA because it too a couple of hours.

I tried again. Used Morph Loader Pro to reload the morphs up to the garment with the correct Scene ID but still no morphs are showing. Am running out of ideas now - seems like it is not possible.

If you are making a morph for an autofitted clothing, you first need to save the autofitted clothing as a new item. Have you done that?

That is not a 'problem'. Actually the default mechanics is: for auto-fitted clothing, there'll be no 'parent' is assigned to the morph asset you saved, but just a 'geometry' in the scene. That's why you see no fixing morph that you made after loading.

Technically, you don't have to save a new figure asset of the garment. Just open the dsf file of an existing morph, search 'parent' and copy that line. Open the morph file you saved, paste the data to the same 'parent' line. Save and reload.

Still, changing the scene identification is a better way.

Sorry, you'll have to excuse my ignorance. It did occur to me that I might need to save the garment as a new figure/prop but I couldn't see a reason why that should be so -- and I wanted to avoid having to transfer rigging and whatever else needs doing with new clothing objects. The garment is actually parented in that it moves with the figure - it is just not "fitted:. If I try to select "fit-to", it automatically goes into the autofit dialogue.

I have tried changing the Scene ID and it does nothing - I still can't see my new morphs.

Anyhow, I did as suggested and just saved the garment with the G8F Scene ID and my morphs and now I can see them when I reload that saved garment. I sure don't understand all the reasons for following the required steps but we finally got there so thank you all for the help.

By the way, I did not do any rigging transfer (I assumed that G8.1 is rigged mostly the same as G8) but I did have trouble deciding which of the Scene ID options was the correct one (see attached). I opted for the one highlighted in green.

Okay, so if when you load that garment into the scene, an Auto-fit dialogue box pops up and you cancel it, for chaning scene ID or whatever purpose, I'm afraid the loaded garment is just a #geometry other than a projected figure with 'Name'. I'm gonna give it a test...

Great ! Saving a figure asset always works. Then it will have a geometry dsf file for being as the 'Parent' when you save any morph asset later on....

And no, you don't need to Transfer Rigging as they're the same on 8.0/8.1, and the green one is correct. Some Compatibility Bases were ever created in cms...

And the green one is correct.

Many thanks again. Sometimes my old brain just slows to a crawl and needs a bit of a push.

Haha, pls don't say that, me too...sometimes.  Well, I just finished the testing. There should no problem if you ->

    1) Load the garment into the scene, do not fit it to the figure but just cancel the Auto-Fit dialogue box !
    2) Change Preferred Base in Scene ID and fit it to the figure. Import your fixing morph and save it as a Morph Asset. No need to save figure asset.
    3) Reload the garment no matter using auto-fit or changing ID first then fit, your morphs will be always right there.

So, auto-fit was the culprit... bringing you just a #geometry with 'no name'.cool

I was doing [1] and [2] but had problems with [3]. Perhaps I did something out of sequence but I will save a link to this thread because I will need to do this again at some point.

No worry and take it easy. I tested with General Release and Public Build, they both work. Perhaps you may try Ctrl + N to do it in a fresh new scene or F2 to clear DSON cache first.
