Dazto3DSMax Bridge - will it be able to export animation at some point?

Hey all :-) My understanding is that Dazto'3DSMAX' Bridge currently does not allow 'animation' to be exported when you export an FBX file. Is this correct? And yet, I understand that Dazto'UNREAL' Bridge and also Dazto'BLENDER' Bridge do in fact support animation export? Is that right? If so, why is this feature lacking from the 3DSMAX Bridge, and are there any plans to incorporate it?? Thankyou!

If you can see an option of Animation in the dropdown list of Asset Type ( in the export dialogue box of the bridge ), then you can...

  • Hi there and thanks for the reply! Well there is no drop-down list as such, I only get the general FBX exporter dialog window that pops up after selecting the DAZ to 3DSMAX bridge (pictured below), and on there, I do indeed tick the box for 'animation', but when my character arrives in 3DSMAX, there is definitely no animation. It is static. I've tested using the basic G8 Female model. Is there some other drop down list that I should be getting? Also, does the FBX version have any bearing on the result? Mine seems to default to 'FBX2012 Binary' which I have no idea if that is the correct version to use? Also I'm using 3DSMAX 2023, is there a specific version of 3DSMAX that it currently supports? I've tried looking all of this stuff up but there seems to be very little info out there relating to the MAX bridge. Thanks again!

  • ok feeling silly now, but I just checked the Dazto3DSmax Bridge official page, and it says there that it supports 3DSMAX versions up to 2020. So my key issue is most likely that I have been using MAX2023. Hopefully that is problem right there! Thanks again.

No, not the plugin in 3dsMax, you should check the bridge in Ds ! I have Maya bridge, like this -:

Since Maya bridge has Animation option, 3dsMax bridge should have it as well.. I think.
