A "trick" is to simple rename the CMS database, i.e. rename "CMS" to "CMS.saved", and start DAZStudio; it recreates the database. Then it is possible to all the "reimport metadata" stuff and see if the result fixes the problem sufficiently. If it doesn't the old state can be recovered by deleting the "new" CMS and reverting the name of the saved one, or, if you are like me, copying "CMS.saved" back to "CMS" and trying something different :-) The database isn't that big.
Most of us don't hack the metadata. Losing the user additions seems just to mean losing the metadata for saved scenes/subsets/presets etc. That will be a big deal for some users but they are all advanced (well, more advanced than me). It would be nice if DAZ could implement something that simply recreated the database from the metadata without requiring a DIM rebuild. Personally I would be happy (perhaps very happy) if that could be done from DIM itself; it has all the metadata I've got installed but the manual process involves de/re-installing by CMS directory (otherwise things get moved between CMS directories.)
Why I'm not able to edit the min max values of property in the IRAY Render Settings pane ?
By exemple, As I'm doing outdoor render, I'm use to set the Matte Fog Visibility (m) Setting to 25 000 not 10 000.
Anyway to restore this behaviour ?
Thanks, it's fine now, I'm not digging that far in the Customize Workspace Options.
Any solution to suppress the annoying dialog box when i'm zeroing a pose ?
I'm not seeing the new DAZ Studio 4.22.0.19 release in DIM, only 5 of the accompanying files.
It was there for me - check your Download Filters
All studio versions are checked. But it showed up after a refresh, must have been some kind of glitch the first time. Thanks.
EDIT: I are smart and figured it out.
DS was still open (possibly still shutting down in the background) when you installed, reinstalling fixed it?
I missed the announcment about Nvidia. Oopsie...well, so far all seems good. Just ran a render today that I was working on since yesterday and it was fine. Hopefully, it stays that way.
Ooohh .. what Nvidia announcement? Seems like i've missed it too!
Where can I find information about what changed?

Hi,
I don't know if this is the place to express this. But it would be a very welcome feature if when rendering to a new window and closing the render window without having saved the rendered image first, the application would warn the user that the work hasn't been saved yet. I know that one has the option to save the last render even if that render window gets closed. But by doing so, canvas(es), if you opt to add any, are lost.
The Render Album and the Render Library doesn't help?
Imago
Thanks. It's likely that I'm missing information here. I haven't been an user of the application for very long (started with this hobby in Summer last year). As far as I can tell, the Render Library in the application only includes the root level, the raw renders in .PNG format or whatever format you choose to render to. I can't see any folders (sub-levels) with canvases in there. Also, I must admit that I usually browse my Render Library folder in Windows, instead of using the pane in the application for it.
You mention a Render Album as well, but admittedly, I don't know what you mean by that. If you mean my space for renders in the online gallery, it's almost empty at present.
I like to include a general beauty canvas in everything I render, which I always do to a new window. Yesterday, after examining my last render (a 5760x3240-pixel piece) in the render window, I forgot to hit 'save' and closed the window instead. 'No problem', I thought. But when I used the menu File>Save last render option, it only saved the .PNG render. The beauty canvas was not included.
Render Album is a Tab in the Windows-> Panes Submenu.
I didn't use it many times but as far I remember it contained the rendered pics.
Otherwise you can simply render directly to file instead of new window and then delete the pics that doesn't satisfy you.
I hate to come back on this. I've been talking to support a few weeks ago and after trying just about everything, I still have the issue. The biggest thing I learned is that it's probably from the undo/redo stack that can't handle large memory sets. I did discover that my RAM wasn't running at the correct speed, but just now it crashed again. I have been cleaning my library to save some space, but it's just not working. It's really annoying having to save everytime I click on something in the scene tab.
I know that there is log with many changes but it is extremely long and annoying to read. I wonder what are new interesting feateures in DAZ 4.22.0.19?

HELP Just updated to 4.22.0.16
The start up screen is totally white (everything is there) how do I change the interface
to the original
Don't have sunglasses
Thank you
That usually means DS was still open (perhaps shutting down as a background process) when the new version was installed. Generally uninstalling and reinstalling will fix this.
Hello,
I hope this question belongs here. I'm on v4.22.0.19 of Daz Studio and not planning to update to 4.23 for now. Now I see updates for the Genesis 8 starter essentials listed and ready to download and get installed on the Daz Install Manager. My question is: can I safely install these update packages if I'm not moving to v.4.23 yet? Thanks.
Yes, content updates are fine.
That's great. Thank you.
