Wow! This is New!!! Animation update?!!!

I just let DIM update my Studio and suddenly my timeline has changed. Any cool videos explaining all of the changes?

Love the appearance of the new key frames and how we use the Timeline menu to access the graph editor - though I haven't looked at that yet. Too many changes to completely soak in right now... busy animating.

Looking forward to discovering all of this! :)

Thanks Development Team! I Love You Too!!! :)

That's what I'm wondering. These new massive keys look like they're going to be a lot easier to manage. The timeline menu looks like it was completely updated. New order of things, less clutter....

I'm in the middle of transferring Mixamo animations to Genesis 8 using Bone Minion/Body2Hip, so I'm not actually doing key frame work beyond the conversions and aniBlock creation, but I'll dig deeper ASAP!

It looks like all of the changes are for the Good though! Someone at Daz 3D loves us animators! :)

    Oh I see...

The graph editor has a new button with an icon at the bottom of the timeline - "Key Graph"

Looks sharp too! I'm loving my new animation zone!

Tks for that info:)) If I hear about improved functionality I'll install the latest beta immediately! Still using 4.20 on a Mac...and of course patiently waiting for MacOSX Filament update that supports multiple transparency layersfrown

This isn't even the beta. This is the general release - new update today

  • Sven DullahSven Dullah Posts: 7,621

Let's just say I'm not going to overwrite my 4.20 general release;)

  • DartanbeckDartanbeck Posts: 21,572

Understood. I just wanted to be clear ;)

  • DartanbeckDartanbeck Posts: 21,572

I wonder why there's no info about any of this.

I checked the Blog, Release and Highlight threads -  change log too... is there any other place we can find out what all has changed?

So far, without being able to actually explore, the changes look to be cosmetic as far as the animation tools - but I really like it.

Maybe they'll do a video about it or something.

    Wow!

Now I'm working on an animation and I don't really have time to explore changes or anything, but just for kicks:

After seeing how incredibly easy it is to select these new keys, I decided to grab one and try to slide it - fully collapsed - not drilling into the hierarchy.

Guess what? It slid!    Game  Freaking   Changer!!!!

Okay, that was a chair prop. What about a key frame on the figure?

    Sure enough!!! Woooot!!!!

Again, a Bid Round of Applause to the Development Team!!!

    I Love You Folks!!! heart

    Okay, here's the key:

We must Select the key first, then grab and slide.

  • oooh so glad can move the keys like Carrara

I can offset animations using poses nicely with this feature

maybe an oscillating tweener next build? enlightened

Daz Studio (with aniMate 2 activated) has a hidden fourth tweener type: Cubic Interpolation!

It's like a bezier, however it will not go out of bounds - higher than the highest value, lower than the lowest!

    Very handy indeed!!!

Carrara has a similar feature in that we can curve either/both ends of a Linear interpolation

Is this in 4.22? Did they fix the other issues? otherwise I'd like to update to this.

Yes, DS Pro General Release - 4.22.0.15 ~ not sure what you mean by "other issues" but you may check the change log in here - http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/change_log.

Though the "new features" may not bring happiness to everybody but 4.22.0.15 is much better than 4.22.0.1. You may go for this update. Pls DO REMEMBER to backup the IM installation package of your old DS version before dowanloading the update !!

Or you may first try the latest Public Build 4.22.1.41 which support iray 2023, while keeping your old DS version for the time being.

Good practice to follow. I never do. I get excited when I see updates and just go for it, which is not the safest way to go - but I've been good so far (knock on wood)

So, I've been having a lot of fun selecting entire lines of key frames and dragging them along the timeline! What's funny about that is that's how it should have always been! LOL   But I'm so happy with these changes. To someone who doesn't animate, it might not be a big deal at all.

I must say though, if you've already upgraded to 4.22, I would go for this update. Without putting my finger on it - it just feels better. More polished. Many of the game-stoppers fixed, I suppose.

I've also noticed that I don't have to wait to restart DS. Close it down and it seems to just fire back up again when I ask it to.

Admittedly, I haven't tried it "As Soon As" it closes, but I just tried it pretty close to it, and it popped open like a champ!

  • I don't understand why it's still forced autokeyframing with no way of turning it off.
