Thanks nicstt and Havos...not sure if these will be freebies or a product. It will depend on how well I do...I know that some merchant resources don't allow freebies so that needs to be looked at also.

@Zev0 Just looking for some clarification on using these as an MR. If I understand right, they're not technically an MR as you need to save presets in a way that the user must own the Growing Up product, correct? Same as any other character packages requiring other packages (ex. so and so for V7). So I can't dial in a child morph using this, export an obj, morph against that, then load it back in as a single slider morph?

It's possible...but I can't explain the process well enough.  I know that Richard did explain it...but I can't find the post.

I know that it's possible from a technical aspect. I'm speaking in terms of the MR agreement. The agreement makes it sound as though the GU dials must remain separate and that they would need to be listed as required products on a character's product page.

I'm looking for clarification on creating characters utilizing these without making it necessary for the user to own these.

Sorry only got notifications now. These are technically an MR because you can create characters for sale using these morphs. EG you cannot dial up a character from a vendors character, create a character for sale based off that. You need special permission for the morph usage. The MR agreement bypasses all that.

Also no you cannot make a single OBJ or merged version from the morphs. You will break all forms of support and functionality. Same reason you cannot merge the Daz head and body morphs into a single character and sell that. The head and body morphs are a requirement. The minute you do that you break rigging and existing support.

    @Zev0 Thanks for the clarification.

Interesting note regarding selling presets utilizing other vendor morphs. Are DO morphs (head/body, V7, M7, etc) just understood as being ok to base secondary character presets from then, as they don't officially carry MR status?

  • Zev0Zev0 Posts: 7,089

DO morphs don't have to mention MR status. It's a given the morphs from Daz are there for people to create characters with. However any 3rd Party has to clarify if they allow for the morphs they sell to be used in the same manner.

  • Lissa_xyzLissa_xyz Posts: 6,116

Thanks for that. Was something I wasn't aware of. I was always under the assumption that presets were fine as long as the morph itself wasn't being distributed.

  • Yes, a preset which requires the original morph to be owned is fine - people just rarely do that for commercial sets as it increases the number of required products, and so the pool of potential buyers.

Has anyone tried to make a young teen version of George?  I want to do a story dealing with high schoolers and high school. I want to make at least one overweight teen.

I just read in another thread that you have to 'bake' the applied morphs and then export them as a character / prop asset to use them in a product.

Which thread? According to Zev0, baking the morphs isn't allowed for this product. If the thread is referring to another product, the terms aren't always the same across vendors, or even products by the same vendor.

I guess this is as good as any place to ask, as I don't see a shapeshift thread floating around, and the questions are in line with the going discussion. First off I hope you start feeling better, I know I'm a bit dismayed by the news of Draagonstorm,

I know she would hav a fix for my second Q.

First off, I have a few ERC freeze dials (Dials that controls other dials) that I am sharing along with a few Hexagon made shape dials. The Control dial also uses Shapeshift and Growing up dials (Not included in the zip) that I want it to be clear the stuff not in my zip is not for 'Giving away'. The custom shapes I made in Hexagon I do intend to be CC0, so I worry that there may be potential for confusion. Is there an easier way to say it then the following that will not be confusing, or is that sufficient?

There are some morph sets used by the figures that are Not public domain, and such those morph sets are the property of there associated creators. I do not care what you do with the figure dials in the ZdgCrew folder, just keep in mind that some shape morph components of them are not free to give away without express permission from the creator.  That would be Daz3d and Zev0 by the way.

The other thing, well, I'm not sure there is an easy fix from where I am.

The DSF is not making that dial do anything that I can tell because of a limit in the shapeshift dial, and that is indeed the way I wanted that dial to go for the figure shape. Thoughts, suggestions, (cringe)?

Hello, thank you for the great products you have made.

I have encountered an error when I tried to use the Growing Up (for Gen 3 Male) this afternoon.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times and still get the error.

That's a Connect install, and by the error message it looks like a corrupt file. Unisntall, then go to /Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Daz Connect Library/data/cloud/1_23983/ and make sure the folder is empty (or missing entirely), restart DS, and try installing again.

Hi Guys. Growing Up for Both Male and Female has recieved some major JCM refinement work. Please download the updated version. If you did a manual install, then delete the Growing Up data folder before installing the Update as there are certain JCM files that have been removed and replaced by others. This was done after the Genesis 8 version was created and I decided to send some of that refinements back onto G3 version. Thanks

These days I'm never sure which download is understood to be manual so, just to be clear - I don't use Connect (probably never will) but I do use DIM. Do I need to delete the GU data folder or will DIM do the right thing?

There seems to be an issue with 3 Jcm's for the male version that is triggering Duplicate ID message. If this happens please copy the files from the attached zip into your Content Library's data folder and overwrite the files. I will have to do another official Update for the male version. Thanks

Manual to me is on the Daz store product library in your account. Dim should be fine as well. Delete the data files just incase. I know there was a previous issue where via dim it never deleted old files that were no longer in use. Don't know if that has been resolved. Should be...But rather be safe than sorry.

I opened the folders before uninstalling, and it removed the folders too, and also readme's and support files

Just got around to checking my DIM Installer and your update is not there. I have an update for Molly waiting but nothing for Growing Up (I have all the G3 GU products). Have I missed something or has the update been withdrawn?

There was an update withdrawn I think. I will let you guys know what is happening. One of the morphs in the female version was acting differently on different setups.

OK - then better to wait until it is sorted. Thanks.
