Tips for Beginner users | MACBOOK USER
Hi,
I've recently become a new member for Daz3D Studio and I was just wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks for beginners like myself. I use a Macbook so it might it harder. I also wanted to ask if anyone knows how to install files from Renderhub into Daz3D as a Mac user, I've searched everywhere for a tutorial but all I get suggested are ones for Windows Users only.
TIA to those who can help me out!

Hi Miles, welcome to the wonderful world of Daz Studio Content!
I've been a Mac/Windows hybrid user for years and have had the same problem, by default macOS doesn't merge content like Windows does. Instead it would delete anything inside a folder if you attempt to paste an folder onto an existing one. I extract the ZIP, then drag the content onto an existing library whlie holding down CMD (super important). This will bring up a dialogue that offers the merge option.
Here's an article I've written with screenshots and detailed explanations around it, it's a few years old but I hope it gets you started: https://www.versluis.com/2016/05/install-content-on-mac/
Content aside, the biggest downside of using Daz Studio on macOS is Iray and the lack of hardware rendering support. If you're OK with waiting a little longer for Iray renders and previews, you're fine - although it is very unpleasant especially when you're experimenting with lighting. If you're getting more serious about using Daz Studio, consider buying a second hand RTX Windows laptop for rendering.
Hope this helps, and have fun!
I use Totte's RendoInstall-2.0, it's an incredible time-saver and I've installed hundreds of .zip files without any issues.

There's a lot of helpful Mac people in this thread (including Totte himself) that can usually help with any issues you might run into:

I use dittoGUI. https://support.ilike.co.nz/appmanuals/dittogui/ It's a simple drag and drop. No frills. I remeber trying RendoInstall, but I don't rember why i didn't stick with it.
Hey there, and welcome! I was rendering on a macbook for the first 2 years or so. For me it was good enough to get my feet wet and decide whether I liked it (I do!) but my experience is that the difference between mac and windows (with an appropriate GPU) is truly night and day. So I guess my advice is, explore working with DAZ studio and take your time, but if you're starting to be more serious you probably will need a PC eventually. And if you buy products keep in mind that you're working with a weak system, and maybe try and stay away from really system-intensive products.
