Materials Do not apply on outfits and clothing in general . Please Help!

Hello,

I am working with genesis 8 models for now so my problem is.

II bought several outfits for daz store . the outffits usaly have different colour materials to apply to change the look textures etc.The issue i have is that when i click on any of the material available for the outfit the character is wearing ,nothing is happening , in couple cases the was appearing on the wrong piece lets say the material was forwas the trousers but instead daz  applied it on the jacket for some bizzare reason.Does anyone  know what may be  wrong ? why the materials don't work on the outits? never had  such problem before

Please Help!

Thank you in advance.

Unless they're Hierarchical Materials, make sure the clothing item is selected, not the character.

Do you have a few example products you could mention? It could be that those products are not working right.

I have found that it's often best to not only have the clothing item selected in the scene but the surfaces selected in the surface tab when loading materials. I tend to do this myself more often than not since I have had issues where trying to apply a material or surface didn't work until I did that. Not sure of there is a reason for that or not. Also, if the clothing item has versions for multiple generations - e.g. G3 & G8 then make sure you are applying the correct corresponding material. They are usually separate items and so presumbly that matters.

Maybe that may help? If not then hopefully if someone more knowledgable in that area replies then we will both learn something :)

  • Thank you for the replies , appreciated!

well , after uninstalling daz completely and removing every single file related to it obviously i reibnstalled averything , for some weird reason everything seems to be working as intended now..

    Thank you!

Ahh, well the "scorched earth" method isn't often required but glad you have things working as intended now :)
