Smoothing modifier not applied during image series render

When I render image series, smoothing modifier is lost after first frame. The behavior is unstable.

Sometimes it is applied one frame and not the other, but mostly, it simply switches itself "off" behind the scenes. Please note that the viewport and render subD's are kept equal for all rendered objects.

If I preview iray on viewport, the smoothing is applied properly. If I render image series, then the smoothing modifier switches itself off for everything in the scene, mostly after first rendered image in the sequence.

Is this known? Anyone else having this issue? What might be wrong?

What is advancing the Timeline? Keys set manually on the Timeline, keys created by a script or plug-in, AniMate playing an AniBlock?

Hi Richard. Neither scripts-plugins, nor animate (In fact, animate plugin is completely disabled). Just manual keys. As raw as possible.

Also, I always delete "Actor" keyframes under "properties" from the timeline except the frame 0. I do this for all characters to make sure that characters never "shapeshift" on the fly either intentionally or mistakenly. A personal habit.

So everything is baked to the bone rotations. Any use of IK targets (as opposed to using it in posing, but leaving the result as transforms)?

No IK targets I guess. I developed a double keyframing technique to overcome tcb value skewing. So, they are also raw.

Pose on the viewport, double keyframe, pose again, double keyframe, and so on.

do you have the geometry editor selected?

  • Dolce SaitoDolce Saito Posts: 192

No, I always keep it at selection tool to avoid mistakenly moving something on the viewport.

Just to clear any misunderstanding: When I said "smoothing modifier switches itself off". I did not mean literally. It is on, but it just doesn't get applied after the first image being rendered during image series. The first image is always ok and correct.

    increase the lock distance maybe

    is it dforced?

if it is don't have the smoothing modifier on when you simulate it

No, there is no dforce neither. This subject is solely under image series rendering and smoothing modifier. As I wrote in the main message, the viewport is ok. During the image series render, after the first image being rendered, the second and the rest has no smoothing modifier applied to the clothes in the scene. Smoothing modifier simply stops applying. Nothing to do with its parameters.

What happens if you set Interactive Update to On for the smoothing mofifier?

I cannot help you then, I do lots of animations and can only suggest things that cause me issues crying

     I'll give this a try.

Edit: Unfortunately, interactive update didn't work neither. Problem persists. I'm looking for any case Richard mentioned, but I might have missed. Somehow, it made me question why smoothing modifier simply stops functioning after the first frame in the image series.
