Head and Body morph being applied to all my G8F's and I have no idea how or why. - Solved

edited February 8 in Daz Studio Discussion

For some reason (and I assume it's because i did something stupid at some point) I have a 70% Heidi head morph and a 100% Maddy body morph being applied to every G8F I load in. As the title of the post says, I have no idea how I might have done this. Is there anyway I can stop these morphs being autioloaded?

Those morphs have been saved with non-zero default values - either due to being supplied incorrectly or perhaps you accidentally saved them that way?

    To fix:

    1. Load your G8M dev load figure
    2. Set those two morphs to zero
    3. Memorise the Figure
    4. Save Modified Asset

If I remember correctly, this should show a dialog window saying that those two morphs will be updated by continuing so you can continue with the process and then things should be back to normal.

I assume you meant G8F Dev load and not G8M, but even so... No luck. Figures still load with these morphs active, even the G8F Base and Dev load. I also shut down Daz and restarted it after applying the changes, but nada.  Any other ideas?

Yes, sorry, I meant G8F dev load.

That should fix it but perhaps those morphs are loaded as dependancies by a separate morph which is still dialled in by default? After loading the G8F dev load, go to currently used in the shaping tab and look to see what is there. If there is nothing "unexpected" then use the corner menu to show hidden properties. There should be something odd that you can dial back to zero which will return the G8F back to normal. You can then do the other two steps to save this.

Also you have to check if there's any Control morph, e.g. Maddy... if the Control morph is set as 100% as default, you have to zero it rather than zeroing Maddy body morph... Then in the list of save modified assets, make sure the wrongly-set morphs are listed.

Still no luck. Here's a screenshot of what the base G8F Dev Load looks like. with the Currently Used Tab showing. I've tried zeroing out all the shapes, memorizing the figure, and then saving it as a modified asset. This screenshot is after doing all that. ~scratches head~ I also checked the Hidden properties and there's nothing I can see in there.

Firstly, what is that hidden property "default-shape" ?  If it was not made by you, dial it to zero to see if other properties follow ? I suspect that property may be the culprit. If so, click the Gear icon on it, Parameter Settings, there's a field of File Path, browse to the file location and delete the dsf file. Reload G8F, see if the issue's gone or not...

If that "default-shape" is not relevant, click All in Parameters pane, filter by "Maddy" or "Sue", see if there's any other properties dialed with 100% but in dark grey color rather than white color... especially the properties labeled as "Maddy", "Sue"...

Secondly, click the Gear icon on Sue Head slider - Parameter Settings, check if the field "Default Value" is  0%...

In addition to what crosswind says you should probably do these steps in an otherwise empty scene - those other figures in there may be affecting the process.

Yeah, better test in an empty scene. Besides, just in case the issue is peculiar... after zeroing / saving assets, before loading Dev Load for further check, press F2, clear DSON Cache Files.

  • Ty for all of the help... of... so the 'default settings' thing appears to be an anatomical elements thing that has somehow found it's way in there. Following your suggestions, I had a look at the morphs that are being applied. There are full figure ones as well as the body and head ones for Sue, Maddy, and Hiedi. The default values were set to 100%. I fixed them to 0%, did the memorize figure and save modified assets... deleted the dev load, reloaded it... and this is what I get. I only hauled up the Sue morphs as an example, but it holds true for the others. Even though the parameters have a 0% default now, the figure is still loading up with the parameter dialed in at 100%. ~cries~ I'm sure it's not supposed to be doing that.

  • Ahah! Now I think I have the issue isolated. Each of the items is attached to a full figure morph, set at 100% default. I have reset the defaults to 0%, done the memorize and save modified asset, deleted the figure, cleared the cache, loaded the figure and lo... the full figure morphs are back at 100%.  So I'm sure that's where the fault is, they won't stay zero'd. Is this an actual bug? Or is it still likely something stupid I have done?

1st, it's odd... In the screenshot you posted,  why was Sue's morph saved under your Vendor Name folder rather than Goanna, the original vendor ? You ever intentionally saved it with your Vendor Name? (...in ss 1)

Anyway, firstly delete Sue's morph in the folder with your Vendor Name (strip6499). Reload G8F, see if you can retrieve Gonna's original morphs. (Sue Product works with no issue on my side). If the morphs are still wrong, you either re-install the product or try fixing as per ss2.

    Ok... will try that

  • Oh boy... ok... Deleted the entire folder that those morphs were in... Restarted PC... loaded up daz and then G8F Dev load... the morphs are still there doing there 100% thing, but this time from the original vendors folders. ~bangs head against desk~

NP~ Then follow the 2nd screenshot above to set the default to 0... Or you just re-install the product.

  • Yay!!! I have a clean G8F Dev load! Ty!.... Now I just have to figure out where all my menu stuff went...

    You folks are the best!
