Upgrade to V8.5 a big mistake?!

I had V6 from years ago and in the Assemble window my animations would move in real time so I could see how changes I made were working out. My animations would also take about a minute to render. Now with V8.5 the animations in Assemble are only shown every one second of motion which is useless. Now the renders take about an hour. Should I be going back to V6?

Not sure if this is it, but have you toggled the "Play Every Frame" button?
Yes. That allows a frame by frame view in Assembly but it is about 25 seconds per one second frame. Reaaaaaalllly slow.
This is the same animation I made and rendered in V6. Everything is just very very slow. Is V8.5 too complicated now?
maybe, adjust the interactive renderer settings?
stuff like full texture, transparency preview will slow down play
software vs opengl.
Where are those settings/ I don't see them in the Render window.
it's in assembly room top/right of preview window. teenie tiny button.
upper right has the openGL / software option.
The icon for the interactive renderer is a circle with an up-arrow in the middle. Changes made in the interactive renderer do not effect the render room settings.
There may be other issues with the preview and render speed besides the interactive render settings. Can you provide more information or screen caps with some of your settings?
Also, are you using C8.5 64 bit version?
I don't have that experience, maybe the MistyMist suggestion will help. I remember way back, thinking the Assembly Room playback was very nice and quick, I think due to use of OpenGL on my video card.
One thing you can do is select the "model" which will reveal "display skinning bounding boxes" in the parameters. This is a blocky representation of character which renders reallfast and great for checking out animation behaviour.
I do think 8.5 is slower than C6 but no problem for me since I made a significant upgrade of hardware - what is your configuration ?
